  1. So, I want... The Half Sovereign proof The Sovereign proof The Double Sovereign proof The £5 Sovereign proof Wait... The 3 coin set The 3 coin Premium Set The 4 coin set The 5 coin set The £5 BU The SOTD proof or prooflike The Piedfort The Matt Sovereign 🤔
  2. Sorry, I came in mid-thread! Thanks MB @motorbikez 👍
  3. Thanks @Zhorro for the heads up! I'm not usually that lucky! Well done RM, that's how coins should be released, randomly not timed where everyone has their mates and family buying too. Congrats to everyone on TSF who bought.
  4. @AppleZippoandMetronome thanks. Here are my thoughts: If I were to sell these bars at say £50, it would be ridiculous to send one SD (+15%?) Even 1st signed post is a chunk of change compared to the low cost of the bar. Hard core stackers want the lowest cost gold so perhaps are prepared to take a calculated risk. Traipsing down the PO is an unwelcome chore when there is a post box almost across the road and I only need to buy a stack of envelopes and a book of stamps once.
  5. IF I were to sell a 1g gold bar, could I theoretically pop it in an envelope with a first class stamp and drop it in a post box? Charge 85p postage? 1st signed for are never signed for after all. Would members accept that or expect a better service?
  6. I like Britannia proofs and I think they are a fantastic buy. The designs are wonderful and the mintages are incredibly low.
  7. Yes, I recall. And the 2017 SOTD that was graded PF at first then changed to MSDPL 😉
  8. Low mintages indeed! I've confused myself now...I've got a MSDPL Sov but your coin looks much better struck than mine 🤔 Probably just crappy internet pics, you'll know for sure when it is in hand 🙂
  9. It's great that you got a pair. 👍 I don't know too much about these but I see NGC have recognised the 2016 full as MS and MSDPL, with 2 @ 70 grade. There aren't any MSDPL halves listed for that year, yet! Looking at the census, these types 'began' in 2001.
  10. One full sovereign and one half sovereign @Goldmick?
  11. You could build some nice mini-collections without going too numismatic. Portrait collection: Victoria, the Kings and Elizabeth. Go one step further and collect all the different portraits of each monarch (I started with Victoria for cost reasons). Monarch collection: All the Edward VII years, all the George V years and perhaps all the Gillicks? One at a time. Victoria will be a challenge. Mintmark collection: One coin from all the different mints. George V is best. The war years 1914-1918. Monarch mint mark collection: One coin from each mint for each monarch. Special reverse collection: Moderns 1989-2017 are always popular. SOTD specials. There will be more
  12. @Scaffstacker, this is worrying, but I still remain positive 👍 The chap is a gold member and joined in Aug 20. No-one would spend that much on a membership to 'scam' only £110? He's a 'quiet' member, only 60 odd posts. It could be a number of reasons, I'm sorry that it has happened but hopefully all will be fine.

    The coming Gold crash

Is that still average now? 1 sov is half your wage? I don't know what you boys earn today?

    The coming Gold crash

    As endorsed by P.T. Barnum?

    Gold 1oz coins

I never realised the Maple was so small and the Philly was so large. Great photo, thanks 👍

    The coming Gold crash

Yes, I agree. His series 'Hidden Secrets of Money' is entertaining. I learnt some things yet wasn't encouraged to buy an oz. I have become more aware of the banking 'mystique' though.
  18. Ah, if you have to use ToR1 anyway, then then it won't hurt to try. Yes, you could make nice gains that way if you wanted. I'm not trashing platinum, I hold platinum too, but not much physical. I prefer vaulted. Selling platinum in the UK is not as easy as selling gold. Hatton Garden Metals are currently offering £655/oz
  19. Yes, yes, yes, so they tell me but you could've had exposure to platinum in easier ways. I'm sorry if I sound harsh but my words, however succinct, are nevertheless sincere. We have a mantra on the forum that before you buy anything, you must work out an exit strategy. You appear to have caused an unnecessary problem for yourself! Still, that doesn't help much does it? Moving forward, would it be possible/easy to travel to the states to trade your platinum for gold/fiat and review your stacking plans? I believe they have less punitive tax regimes concerning precious metals? I had a brief look at the ToR1, looks like a headache. Roy
  20. Ok. The problem then is your lack of research. Who buys 100oz of physical Platinum? You should have bought gold. Can your local man facilitate a fair platinum/gold exchange?

    1917 Sovereign

The 1917 London sovereign is very rare. It's not beyond the capabilities of an unscrupulous seller to 'modify' the mintmark of a colonial sovereign to give the appearance of no mintmark suggesting a London mint issue.
  22. @ilovesilverireallydo knows all about these. Ask him to put you on his list 👍
  23. Agreed. C'mon, the comment about cutting the coin was funny but the other (sucker) does them no favours. Just move on and spend your money elsewhere
