Finally got my Stephen Hawking coins...

After doubting Deutsch post & royal mail this arrived safe today.
2019 wedge tailed eagle high relief proof. Just need a 2014 now and I have all to date



 
Also had a few more .500 half crowns 

A little bit of research and light reading for the evenings, with a fine bottle of Bordeaux maybe..

With my Del Boy command of French that shouldn’t be a problem!

Something I'm going to try and do more often when posting photos on here is to include something common for size comparison so I included a 2p.
Precious metal photos always seem bigger than they actually are in real life to me. It's not a complaint just something I've noticed. My brain can't work it out ha.

Today in a charity shop I found some 50% silver coins so I bought a few. Two florins (two shilling coin) and two shillings.
I bought the book from the same shop. It's an anthology of Rudyard Kipling's poems. Three of the coins are from within Kipling's lifetime (1921- the fourth coin is from 1944- Kipling lived from 1865-1936). I wonder if he had coins like them jingling in his pocket when wrote the poem "Cold Iron":
GOLD is for the mistress - silver for the maid" -
Copper for the craftsman cunning at his trade! " 
" Good! " said the Baron, sitting in his hall,
But Iron - Cold Iron - is master of them all."
 

This has been at Argos for days waiting for me to pick it up. Finally got off work early enough to grab it. 

Just to make it clear, Argos are not stocking Scottsdale bars lol. It was a eBay click and collect.

Please welcome an arrival from Australia... a rare 1862 Sydney Mint half sovereign.
She may have a tarnished background... but is still a pleasure to behold!
And from the UK, a superb example (MS61) of the 1867 full sovereign from the Sydney Mint which brings out the beauty of the Australian Victorian head type.

Samuel Montagu & Co. was a British merchant bank founded by Samuel Montagu in 1853.
Set up as a bullion broking business, it aimed to make money from the Australian gold rush by brokering deals between sellers and buyers. From 1911 onwards, it became part of the group of companies which formed the London bullion market.[1]
After the death of founder Samuel Montagu, the bank passed into the ownership of the family trust, Montagu Trust. In 1967, the Midland Bank acquired a share in Montagu Trust, and so became the first British clearing bank to control a London merchant bank. Samuel Montagu & Co. became a wholly owned subsidiary in 1974,[2] and on completion of the acquisition Midland also gained a majority share in Guyerzeller Bank AG in Switzerland. Michael Samuel Rosenberg was Director of Corporate Finance for Samuel Montagu & Co. Ltd., from 1972 to 1974[3] [2]
Samuel Montagu's chairman in 1977 was Philip Shelbourne, who owned a terrier named Montagu, which would travel with him in the back seat of his chauffeur-driven Mercedes. Shelbourne, a trained barrister, had been the first outside director of NM Rothschild, before joining the Drayton Corporation, a manager of investment trusts. Its founder, Harley Drayton, was a well-known City buccaneer. Drayton was later absorbed by Samuel Montagu, to form the merchant bank's investment management subsidiary, Drayton Montagu Portfolio Management. In 1977 its managing director was David, now Lord, Stevens. 
Today, Samuel Montagu & Co. forms part of the private banking service of HSBC. The name was last used by HSBC in 2000. In 2003, HSBC spun off its private equity business, which took the name Montagu Private Equity.[4]

Hello Yas, I can't tell you date of mintage but i'd guess 1980's or 1990's. You won't find it in any of those guide's you mention as its a Pure Bullion coin.

Samuel Montagu is a Big Player in Gold & Silver Bullion Investment items, they were established in 1853 in London and are Hugely involved in Big Business today....HSBC Bank, Hong Kong Markets amongst many others.
 
 
Lot more info online, But can’t really find another example of the coin or information regarding mintage which would be a big help. If anyone has any info that would be music to my ears 👍

Quite a lot of over the last few weeks, might do a group shot later. However this coin I have been lusting after for over 2 years since I found out it existed. 9k minted and one of only 4 times Kenya issued gold coins this being the first. 
Chuffed to have bought it at 2% over spot today!

Picked up a few coins from Provident.  Star Wars Vader, Welsh Dragon, Spartan Warrior.
Got the Star Wars coin because it was on sale.  Looks much better in person than the online images.  Vader really stands out.  Some of the background is incuse and the character profile looks like its on a higher layer.  Kinda makes me want to grab the rest of this series.

A bit of weight arrived today, many thanks to MickD and Stacksellrepeat. You guys made my weekend with these items.

Nothing too fancy, still awesome to find bullion related to banks in coin form  believe this was minted around 1978-80.
