They want to make long term profits and attract long term collectors. I think it's clear grading coins like this really wouldn't do them any favours, if they grade part of them people then loose trust in the others and if they grade them all they are enforcing a huge premium on people and removing the fun and challenge of getting graded coins, but anything is possible.

Been thinking this since Mayflower but many people doubt the RM want to make a profit 😂 Could make Alderney look cheap!!!
Also see the Covid warning at top of website. Don’t see them doing it until they are in a better position to fulfill.

The Royal Mint is issuing the decimal day SOTD 50p coin on February 15th. So would not expect them to issue the new Three Graces coin the same day. So perhaps the following Monday.

Or maybe the RM intend to sell pre-graded PR/PF 70’s and are frantically flying out squadrons of coins to PCGS or NGC in the U.S. and still haven’t achieved the desired number of 70’s to fulfil the targeted mintage release figures? Let’s face it, quality control isn’t a strong point.

    RM website:
    “8th February 1928 - Television goes transatlantic”
So later today is the appropriate anniversary date to release the John Logie Baird 50p coins.
Still hoping for the Graces though!

Also you have to be lucky with the RM not cancelling your order after you pay for it ..

I expect commercial dealers won't list at 9.00am but wait for a RM sellout before listing at twice the price.

And that coin sold out in 60seconds (numi’s words)
that had a mintage of a hundred
unless we have big mintages for the graces, no one will even get a sniff at it ! (Both gold and silver versions )

Alderney gold Una’s came in many weights and sizes, mostly from Hattons of London. They had exclusivity to 24 carat gold versions with a small VR mintmark.
They’re particularly noticeable in that they lack the year date in Roman numerals below Una. The standard 2019 year date is only displayed on the obverse side beneath the lady impersonating the Queen. The Roman numerals are replaced by coin descriptions - Fifty pounds (5oz), Twenty pounds (2.5oz), Five pounds (Quintuple Sov), Double Sovereign, Sovereign, Half Sovereign and Quarter Sovereign.
The £50, £20 and £5 coins each had a worldwide mintage of 199. The double sov had a mintage of 399. The standard sov size mintage was 2,019. The half was 1,839 and the quarter was 4,999. Hattons proclaimed them as the World’s first 24 carat gold sovereign or 1/2 sov or 1/4 sov whatever, but I agree with @sovereignsteve in that they’re not proper sovs (although they might weigh the same).

The mintage of 500 is small for todays standard
If it is not confirmed to be fixed at 500 this is great for anyone who owns or decide to buy a set of the Gold Three Graces
The Alderney Una & Lion was much higher i believe ? was it 2000 mintage on each coin??
So if there are 3/4 less of these they should hopefully be in demand in the collector market
I know it is still yet to be confirmed but we don't know what size Three Graces gold are coming out from Royal Mint
If the 2oz gold is the smallest, this loses a great deal of folk who cant afford even the list price RRP £4400+ >
With these they can still get a gold Three Graces in gold but in smaller sizes in 1/4 1/2 or full sovereign
Will probably work out best to break up the sets and grade individually i think

I keep almost pressing the buy button but something stops me. It's sovereign sized but it's not a sovereign, not the RM and doesn't have a "proper" effigy of HM. I don't know what it is about these Alderney/Jersey etc issues but they just don't look right. But it's probably the only 3 graces gold coin I could get.
    What to do?😵

I'm not convinced by the small size. If they offered a double sovereign then I might pick one up.

They have been hanging around a while, i have been monitoring stock levels whilst debating buying a set and they crept back up over 20 from 15 before. I don't think this design will transfer great to sovereign size coins but maybe its me - at £1000 Id bite but not £1300

these trial of the pyx coins never did anything for me, if in wanted a battered coin id buy bullion for bullion prices.. Each to their own though Im sure the history involved is very interesting for some.

From what I've seen in my opinion the 2oz has done what it needed to. As I said before the first 100 had to be selling for more than £999 before the other 900 came out. Simply because there is going to be more supply. The fact these are not selling out instantly and people are paying slightly more elsewhere. I think this coin will only be good for those that paid £500.
Unless the RM one is unobtainable and also the fact everyone is currently buying anything at any price maybe not

in the nicest possible way, the list price could be a million quid a coin, doesn't means its worth it, its worth what someone i prepared to pay
That new 5oz one has been live for a day visible to a worldwide audience, the only one out there for sale, anywhere and has not sold
So its not worth currently £5000 as not one person has not ponyed up the £5000 to buy it
Even then if x1 does sell for £5000 that x1 water droplet in a "ocean" of collectors who don't think it is worth £5000 as they chose not to commit to £5000 when they had a chance to buy it
Personally £5000 is far to high a price for your average bloke on the street collector
