Foster88 got a reaction from Gruff in Today I Received.....
Received yesterday, not through the post and a little bitter sweet really.
Definiately the most treasured of my gold, a small, dainty, 1930’s gold ring.
The reason why it will be the most treasured is that it’s my great-grandmothers wedding ring.
A symbol of a love now long gone but one I’ll always wear and pass onto the next generation.

I received these great pieces of antique 925 silver from @HighlandTiger’s weekend spot price sale.
The gravy jug is too good for the melting pot. The Sunday roast just got upgraded, only my partner doesn’t know it yet. 😆

These three arrived today from @SVcollector. Two nice George V Perth mint Sovereigns and my first 20 gold Franc Rooster.
I’ve had my eye on the 20 Francs for some time. Now I’m wondering if I’ve made a mistake. All day I’ve thought “Not another collection, no, no no..... hmmmm actually.... they are quite nice” 😬 🤦🏻♂️

Yesterday this high quality 2014 bullion sovereign arrived. A few marks but not bad for a few % over spot.
Bought for my niece for her 18th birthday. I might have it conserved and graded.

Something a little different from my sovereign collection arrived today.
This 1918 Canadian George V 50 Cent coin, .925 silver with some nice toning for its 103 year age.
Thanks again @DuncanWylieWilson

Foster88 reacted to Skyfiller in Another in the Kilo Club
Purchased a special sovereign off @James32 last week which means I owe a massive thanks to everyone on TSF as I've hit the 1kg of gold in full sovereigns 🙂 (That's 137 to save anyone counting 😂).
I started this journey just under 3 years ago after happening upon TSF after looking up what one was worth that was given to me by my grandparents when I was born. Gave myself the target of 1kg in 10 years (1 per month plus a few) and have smashed that. Honestly the best decision I've done and a great little nest egg for retirement. Here's to the next kg and once again, thank you all 😀🥰

The easiest date run to start would be Charles III. 😆

Foster88 reacted to SidS in Have any of you wondered about this?
Yes I've thought about this for years. The truth is, ever since the mint started manufacturing annual BU sets there is 'generally' little to no point in collecting anything from change. There will always be mint examples available in quantity, not much will become rare. The rarities will be the oddball items like specific die pairings, errors (dateless 20p I'm looking at you) and very, very low mintage material in BU set form.

Foster88 reacted to TeaTime in Have any of you wondered about this?
Conversely there will be a lot more coins in good condition available for collectors. Will anything be considered rare or desirable ?
I collect BU 'circulation' 50p coins (and year sets) from various of the non-Royal Mint sellers now available*. None of the coins will ever command much of a premium - these companies have pretty much wiped out any future numismatic market for modern coinage
I can only hope that plebs inheriting encapsulated coins break them out to spend them - less likely now with everyone using plastic 😁
*Too much disposable income !

‘Jokes’ aside, this isn’t really funny.
Not the place to post this. The forum is inclusive of everyone. The undertone of homophobia is dire, even said in jest.
