dicker got a reaction from Rat in "special" delivery - remember that the insurance is limited!
Quite.
Whilst I have not had a problem with RMSD - which for me has been faultless, I have had problems with other premium services - not PM related.
Nasty and unethical chicanery by large organisations companies is not that frequent but my experience is to follow regulatory processes (if they exist for service that is at fault).
Use ombudsman - with lots of evidence. You will win.
If not, and depending on the size of the problem:
- Threaten lawyers
- If no response, use lawyers. Ideally get a letter delivered at 3.30pm on a Friday with a strong threat of legal action to ruin someone’s weekend. Making sure you target someone with financial skin in the game with a company you have a problem with.
Post the Horizon scandal, people will be a little more “focussed” on behaving with integrity.

This is a very interesting read.
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/article-12968675/Royal-Mail-lost-3-000-gold-ring-SALLY-SORTS-IT.html
Long story short, a £3000 ring was posted and it went missing.
Royal Mail only paid £10 for the postage.
It was only by the intervention of a third party "Sally Sorts It" that the Royal Mail sent out a £2500 cheque.
Insurance is often not worth the paper it's printed on and they will always find a way to weasel out of paying.

dicker got a reaction from pricha in This was a bit out of the ordinary
Perhaps it would be good to study similar Sovs with this error from Victoria onwards? They exist, and are a matter or public record.
There are a lot of other example of Brockage errors, and those made by a man and a vice in a garage are vastly different from the real thing.

This is a genuine rarity. I don’t know about pricing but I would guess 5k would be the starting point at auction.

I have seen more Victoria Shield Brockage errors on halves than Sovs. This is from Heritage Auctions. Nice example.

dicker got a reaction from HonestMoneyGoldSilver in Bullion bomb...
The Safe Bit of me says:
Brits from QEII era or Gillicks. Both are spot friendly and liquid.
If I wanted to take a punt, one or two significantly rare Sovs - betting that they will be more desirable over a period of time.

dicker reacted to Darr3nG in Hansons Sovereign Auction
Imagine the poor fool using them for sales?
£305 hammer price = £53.38 commission + £5 processing + £11.68 VAT = seller ends up with £235 for a bullion sov!!!

3 Brits, or however many sovereigns £5000 will buy. Low premiums on the way in, high percentage of spot on the way out. Trusted and recognisable coins, whether selling privately or to a dealer.
Personally I think platinum is the best value of the three main PMs at the moment, but in terms of maximising your return on physical bullion, I wouldn't buy either platinum or silver.
So how about - a physical Brit and a couple of sovereigns, and then split the remainder equally between a platinum ETF and a silver ETF?

Interesting - I have seen one before but was too pricey for what I think it might be worth.
-
dicker got a reaction from Kitalon in Opinion on Grading
Depend on why you are thinking of grading them.
- To keep yourself? Why not, personally not for me but appreciate some folk like that
- To sell and make a profit? Not sure it would be worth it if you are selling on eBay or auction with fees. Demand here for decent quality Shields remains healthy

This sort of scumbag (listing above), typifies the sort of BINlord that lives on the BINlord thread. Look at his other listings - loads of fantasy coins / counterfeits bought from China and sold between other genuine coins.
Judging by his feedback, I recon he would be easily wound up by a few well aimed emails….
