The benefit of au & ag in theory is that it can be off the books. I am dealing with a bereavement of a family friend who has recently passed away. The guy was asset rich and already his immediate family are circulating around trying to claim assets and a % of his wealth. His estate will be taxed at 40% and the company who he had the will with has informed the executor that all properties will have to be sold. For a fee of £18k they apparently will take care of everything 🤨. I told the executor what ever happens when it comes to sell make sure you get market value as there can be back handed deals going on enabling buyers to buy properties on the cheap. From my understanding any tax due get first dibs before it is released to probate. A good idea if you have children and family you wish to have as beneficiaries, have a discussion with everyone present in the room to clearly state what your intentions are (bit hard giving figures and % ‘s) but a general overview can do no harm. The WILL is the legal document to go by, but every so often you must update your WILL. The dynamics between families often change when it comes to the distribution of wealth. Surely we must have some specialist inheritance experts on the forum?

I reckon in 15 to 20 years gold in any format will be sought after and hard to get hold of in the physical format. coins have the added benefit of being cgt exempt (sovs and brits). I say get what ever you like and feel comfortable buying, a mixture of both coins and bars can’t do any harm. What ever you decide to do I think it is very important you enjoy life/wealth or pass it on. I cry when I read stories on gold being found in the cupboard or behind a piano.

I'm very late to then pensions game, I need to make up for lost time, so I have just gone down the AVC route with the aim to also set up a sipp next year. As a melieniul I don't think a pension/state pension will be sufficient to see out the last year's of our lives. I do believe gold will be a fantastic private pension for the medium to long term. My strategy is now going to be a combination of additional voluntary contributions, sipp and basic standard sovs for retirement. The world is obviously going to change and so will policies and rules but we must adapt and move with the times, no choice unless your no longer in the system.

Pandas are not really that popular here on the forum for some strange reason. A mini date run may attract someone who will be willing to pick it up in one go but it's highly unlikely in my opinion. Your best bet is to sell them individually. With regards to prices on here at the forum I would say 1g about 70ish, 3g £165ish and 8g £400 ish. I too would keep them in the OMP.
