  1. I have had experience of a lost SD package which eventually turned up thankfully. Im going to keep this short, in my opinion peer to peer transactions on the forum will not be covered by the royal mail if in the event an package goes missing. You need an invoice, and a proper invoice from a company to show proof of purchase. Most items on the forum are second hand so no invoice is provided. After making the initial claim the royal mail will write to the intended recipient to confirm whether or not the item has been delivered, cost of the item and other details. I send via special delivery as the treatment through the system is slightly more secure but I do have severe doubts any items lost in transit will not be reimbursed by the royal mail on a forum member to forum member basis.
  2. Since Covid started the premiums on silver eagles were rising in the US. Now a mixture of supply issues and a bit of sustained sentimental value on eagles gives us the insane premiums here in the UK but also in the US Let's not forget prior to Covid the folks in the United States were able to buy silver at spot (most probably generic silver) but those days are long gone now. We used to envy the folks in the US for being able to get silver much cheaper than us here in the UK but it is now almost leveling off.
  3. Thanks @trp for organising again. I'm in, the prize from my side will be Kookaburra 1oz 2020 + 2021
  4. It was out of stock from Atkinsons literally the next day
  5. Proceeds of crime auction possibly, I'm just guessing
  6. Oh so the lion will come out next year and not in 5 years ?
  7. How do we know these premiums are not here to stay for the medium term
  8. The Elephant is now out in 1oz gold Bullion. Beautiful coin and I think they have captured the design of an elephant very well. As I write the coin is available from Atkinsons for £1565, with each new release being 5 years apart. Start to finish this series will take 25 years to complete. It will start of with an elephant followed by a lion, rhino, leopard and finally a buffalo. I'm very tempted to sign up as I'm a huge fan of an elephant, lions are just majestic, rhinos have that look about them, leopards hmmmmm yh what ever, and the buffalo everyone loves a gold buffalo. https://coinsweekly.com/south-africa-presents-big-5-elephant-bullion-coin/ What are your thoughts on this ?
  9. Yh the condition may not be great but I don't think we can fault the dealers. It's a mass produced bullion coin and for the dealers to inspect the coins prior to dispatch will probably mean a good 50% of Brits will have to be sidelined. Packaging up and sending out orders is a time consuming process as it is, and for them to pick out the best condition is simply unrealistic. You want decent good condition bullion coins try buying coins minted from the Perth Mint, slight premium on some of the coins but they come in a capsule and the quality is fantastic. The silver forum is probably the only place where you can somewhat bank on the condition of the silver coins. Sellers will more often than not state the condition the coins are in. It sucks to buy silver that is not prestine, however look at the shinny side. Whether the coin is prestine or damaged like yours I think when it comes time to sell the price difference will be pennies so don't get too down hearted. Let us know once it milks.
  10. Yes through a toss of a sov
  11. If your in London take it over to Hatton Garden Metals good bunch of lads there. With a simple toss in the air the guy will tell you whether it is genuine or not. Maybe phone HGM first to see if they could do this for you.
  12. Yh some brands command a higher premium such as PAMP but when your buying silver in 999 format then I would say go for price. You can buy the cheapest 10oz bar or the most expensive 10oz bar when it comes to sell the buyer is always going to pay attention to the price so with that in mind make your decisions. I personally have gone for a mixture, of the cheapest but I have also gone for the premium stuff too such as Scottsdale silver items. I would not put too much thought into the lbma factor. @sixgun your thoughts ?
  13. It's food for thought , tbf valid points for both sides, but I would never be able to stomach the premiums of the QB.
  14. @BackyardBullion I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this
  15. Personally speaking I would avoid the queen's beasts due to the premiums on each of the 10 coins. The Tudor beasts are new and although they command a premium I believe it's much more reasonable compared to the premiums to backdate the queen's beasts series. You also have to factor in the thought of when you would exit and sell the metals. Having a collection may mean you have some sentimental attachment to the coins making it difficult to let go, with standard bullion you can let go and buy again if and when needed without too much heartache.
  16. I am sure you can use kilo bars as barter or any weight of gold for that matter.
  17. @mr-dead @LawrenceChard how would you break down the market share of Chards and other well known dealers ? Back to the topic thread even when looking at a 100g+ bar in gold is a push for 90% of this forum in my opinion.
  18. Still on the forum, maybe just not as active. I have done business with him not too long ago.
  19. Surely you have not seen it as bad as this @LawrenceChard ?
