After a long day at work, its nice to come home to the one's I love...the Silver Variety that is. Here we have a nice set of Birmingham 1922 Rat Tail teaspoons/coffee spoons made by Docker & Burn in fab condition, a 1892 Zar South Africa 2 1/2 Shillings Coin and another 1922 Peace Dollar for the stack. All bought for a low price from same seller on eBay who also combined postage, fantastic deal late on Sunday night, unloved by other bidders, their loss my gain.
A small stack of mixed BU Silver coins, thanks @arshimo2012.
And some nice capsules for my soon to arrive QB's in the Group Order, thankyou @BackyardBullion for organising the order.
As well as a Valentines gift for the other one I love, with thanks to @SilverStan who beautifully crafted this Silver Heart which is destined for my wife to hopefully keep things sweet and enable my new found love affair to continue!

@richatthecroft very interesting to hear your thoughts, thanks! She is indeed a stunner it's always interesting indeed to hear about different feelings in hand, even though she looks a beaut anyway from the big pics you posted I can imagine you were dazzled when you first laid eyes on the actual coins! Like you say, add on the mintage for a Brit and it's a very pleasing proposition, you must be very happy with your purchase, I would be I've gone for the silver as it's a real curio imo (and hadn't noticed the lettering on those!) - it's just, as I say, what on earth can they come up with next year, they have seemingly thrown absolute everything they could possibly think of all on one coin!
Just finished work , sorry for the belated reply, another day and another half dollar! Dazzled is a good word, and hopefully the fairly low mintage will attract some premium. I have the Silver version on its way among the group order, with thanks to @BackyardBullion and as you point out, you are not attracted immediately to the lettering if you look at a thumbnail/ small photo in the online stores, and in hand, I expect that the Silver coin will be similar to the Gold, the lettering blending into the radial design. It will be interesting to hear the feedback in this forum of what people think to the Silver version.

I was only in the market for the 1oz'ers now, as I'm in the process of sloooowly! (when the price is right to do so) liquidating some shares I have held long term.

I think the "one ounce fine gold" and "Britannia" just plonked beside the trident is a bit lazy, but otherwise it looks great.
5 hours ago, kimchi said:Agreed, I think it would look even better without those, but they have to put them somewhere and there's literally no room anywhere (apart from on Britannia herself)!
4 hours ago, Martlet said:Yes, i really like except the lack of thought. Too late now ofcourse, but you'd have thought they could put "1 oz 999 fine gold" or silver round the edge, and i dont need to be told its a Britannia.
Hi All. I was drawn to this particular coin because I absolutely love the design on the reverse of old British Trade Dollars (I bought several of these at auction between Christmas & New Year, (I have one of them for sale currently)), and this Oriental Design Britannia is clearly inspired by that coin.
I had similar reservations of the lettering, but given the overall aesthetic (and the fact that I had spent so many hours drooling over the damn thing on different websites!) I took the plunge, given only a £7 premium over the 2018 Britannia, and notwithstanding a reasonably low mintage of 5000. I should acknowledge however, that my initial plan for my first Gold 1oz'er was to buy from the secondary market close to spot! so I have blown the budget and I should disclose (looks around to make sure the wife isn't looking over my shoulder), I did buy two of these!
My observations are, in hand as opposed to seeing it blown up in the photo's, the lettering/numbers are not that prominent as they blend into the radial design. The 'Britannia' lettering/ numbers look fresh and modern looking and the radial design really emphasises the Oriental Border and allows Britannia to stand out prominently.
Judging by the amount of 'likes' here, this is a popular design on the Silver Forum and lots of chatter about buying them in the group order, so I am encouraged that the two I have bought might make/keep a bit of a premium in a few years time and as a footnote, I wish I had a suitcase full. At at the end of the day they are bullion coins that I have bought to hopefully help my retirement be a little bit more comfortable, 17 years to go!

I wonder what image will be next?
I haven't seen a shiny Cleo before mine is the same finish as the others
Sorry, not the best photo's but here's a comparison, matt-shiny (I'm sure shiny isn't acceptable coin-speak! apologies)

Not posted here before. Received today, bought impulsively (because of the price) on New Years Eve on eBay when auction ended, presumably when everybody was in the Pub as I paid much, much less than scrap value! Birmingham 1986, Padgett and Braham its a mighty fine Silver cigar box 8 1/4 x 5 3/8 x 2 1/2 inches in height, cedar wood lined and weighs a hefty 1155 grams. Love the motif on the lid. I estimate that this will weigh well in excess of 600 gram of .925 silver minus the cedar wood lining. Better still, its of quality manufacture and I can't wait to fill it up with bullion.

At the bottom of the page of the link I posted someone posted:
FESSENDEN & Co. (on Sterling Silver, Providence, RI, USA) - ca 1858 - 1922.
Which fits with Backyard's belief that it might be American.

Hi
think i might have tracked this hallmark down for you:

Went to the saleroom today in an attempt to buy some silver and came away with paper! I failed miserably, prices were high and encouraged to see .500 coins making decent money...took a gamble on these though 1940's French and Dutch banknotes:
French 100 francs bank note 14th March 1940, a 5 francs allied military currency note 1944 & a Netherlands Muntbiljet 1 Gulden State note 1943, there was an outlier as well- a 70's Turkish note! but not worth photographing but all in fantastic condition. Anybody collect old banknotes and wants to do a swap for some silver before they go on fleabay?

Unleash the Beasts! Very happy with these beautiful coins from Atkinsons. As subsequent to my last Gold purchase, everyone take advantage of the price dip now I have bought again! Love the Krug's, thanks @Bullionbilly for your help with this purchase, wonderful coins. Also a South Korean Gallus from @arshimo2012 not my usual coin choice but very interesting detail. Plus two very regal looking Britannia's from eBay,
