Sticking to the current sovereign theme, I got this little tiddler today, a quarter. You know its going g to small, but jeez it's tiny..

Now in the case with its bigger siblings. Once the sovereign sized hole is filled, then job done, and one happy as Larry owner!

Margins tend to be very low on bullion sovereigns for dealers. My regular dealer tends to buy from the public at spot price and sells at spot +5%. Will also never budge on price for bullion sovereigns but will usually be willing to negotiate on world gold coins, often depending on how long he has been sitting on the stock and of course how much he paid for the coin(s).

My local bullion dealer isn't as cheap as he was just over a year ago, so I end up shopping around elsewhere. He does have some good deals every now and then and will let you haggle prices but for sovereigns he doesn't budge.

Supposed to be 10 pence in my change 🙄 turns out to be Croatian and worth approximately 22 pence 😀 anyone else recently made 120% profit today?😅😅😅
Interesting but then I'm easily amused.

Being a new silver buyer, with a limited budget, I told myself I was just going to stick with stacking and not get distracted by "collecting." But then I was looking around on the JM Bullion website and, well.... Lady Godiva captivated me. She even convinced me that I need to start working on this Medieval Collection. I went all in... the box, the Air-Tite holders, the Coppers. Only ones available right now are Lady Godiva and The Pied Piper, which are the 2nd and 3rd releases (out of seven). Robin Hood, the 1st one, is listed as out of stock with an option to be added to an alert list. I'm hoping that means they're going to be striking some more, otherwise I guess I'll be shopping ebay for that one.
    Resistance was futile.

A couple of coins I received today. 2 Ase's to continue my modest date run, thanks to @arphetheanfor those. A 2022 Lib from silver trader to add to my other modest run and a coin which I've wanted for a while but had decided to wait to get. But after seeing @GoldDiggerDaveyou tube video of it I couldn't resist. The Mrs was NOT happy!! Lol

It was around 1 weeks wage back then.   Today they are £365  around a weeks wage, gold is a true store of wealth.

A couple of items arrived this morning.

From the Royal Mint, three, one gram gold bars – ready to be Christmas presents for my niece and nephews.

And an early Christmas present for myself, a well-used silver 1821 Crown with no unsightly scratches or edge knocks – a good, honest, two hundred year old, piece of history.

Not much happened in the year 1900, though apparently £1 in 1900 is equivalent in purchasing power to about £136.61 today. So based on that you'd probably have been able to buy a low end smart phone or just about a tank of fuel in your Ferrari for a mere £1, the face value of one of these 122 years ago.

Absolutely Flawless - 2008 Gold Proof £1 Coat of Arms   An auction success brought this pristine specimen to me for spot including delivery. The early bid catches the worm.   Also included was the original invoice, showing that 14 years ago the Royal Mint were selling new proof issues at 62% over spot, compared with about 70% today.   The condition is quite sublime...even dust particles fear to tread.   This familiar (to those who have attained puberty) design is that of the inaugural 1983 £1, but one of just two auric appearances.

Started stacking current year sovereigns and 1oz CGT free coins when I had spare money at the end of the month, as a way to store wealth outside of the system and to save a bit more for retirement
Moved to doing date runs on sovereigns and selling most of my 1oz coins, Brits & Krugs and only keeping anything what I loved.  Currently concentrating on pre-1900 sovereigns, full and half but will also buy anything that is well priced if I don't already have it.  Exception being special year sovereigns and Gillicks, which I tend to stack then sell on when I need to fund a bigger purchase and I don't have the cash
I also moved from storing in a mates safe to an insured safety deposit box and had my own safe installed for anything I buy between runs to storage as it is 40 minutes away
Now realised I am hooked, but justify it to myself as its just turning money into different money.  And if I didn't do it I would be buying a new iPhone every year, new gaming PC components, new metal detecting gear etc. etc.  Since I started I don't waste money on those things, I only replace what is broken and I feel better for it.  I reckon I have put a fair bit of cash into PM's that otherwise would have gone on what are essentially consumables
