  1. In a word "NO" now to add to that if it is an NGC PF 70 box cert etc make zero difference to price or authenticity. If the coins are not graded it's nice to have all the OEM packaging & can add to value for certain coins but by no means all coins. I myself have bought lowish value silver proofs from Australia & just told the dealer to bin cases & certs to keeps postage costs down.
  2. @SilverMike Couldn't have put it better myself I stated my reasons above.
  3. @dicker Yeah there are pros & cons here pal. I'm not a fan of grading per se & only about 5% of my collection is graded but the reason I bought for example my Queens beasts 1oz proofs graded is as BB they are easier to look at slabbed & I like the GB labelled slabs which most of mine are, they frame the coins perfectly. I bought the 2oz QBs slabbed for a different reason, a lot of the raw coins I saw for sale had some minor imperfections spots/scratches so I went down the route of only buying MS 69/70 coins with no spots & I've seen loads of slabbed QB 2 oz coins on ebay with spots sell very well in the US, for some reason they are more tolerant of spotting. In the 2 cases I'm talking about grading can & does add significant value compared to the raw coin. But on the other side of the coin so to speak graded lunar series 1 proofs 1oz & 2oz in particular sell for less than the raw coins so grading is not always the best thing to do. Its horses for courses whatever you do with your coins is the right thing to do graded or not we're all different.
  4. These two rare beauties arrived from the US this morning.
  5. Not the silver 1oz proofs though pal, most of the raw versions are selling for double issue price or more & raw dragon has sold many times for triple issue price. The odd one such as White Lion & greyhound can be bought sometimes around issue price give or take a tenner.
  6. It's early days yet but I have a feeling this series is going to go the way of the Australian Lunar series 2 in the sense of 3 or 4 nice designs & the rest very mediocre which does not create desirability for collectors. I hope I'm wrong though because I need something to collect😅.
  7. Lol my daughter is at Uni in Newcastle & walks about with a T shirt on when it's freezing , she fits right in there.
  8. I alternate the Pamp & Britannia & keep the £20 coin in my bike jacket all the time." Today I mainly be carrying the Pamp"

    Excited

    @CrabbyNever wears off pal.
  10. Agreed the 1st one is poor, I think RM should have started with one of the better designs of this series to get it off to a good start. No doubt there will be some good designs coming in the future but IMHO RM have missed a trick here after the stunning success of the QB series. I'm also not bothering with this series at the moment, I may have a change of heart if the next one is a decent design but for now I'll give it a miss.
  11. @Praetorian Everything is available except 1/4oz gold proofs individual & 10 coin sets.
  12. We'll have to see what the rest of the designs are like but the original QB Lion is streets ahead of the panther IMHO.
  13. Not really pal 7010 is high IMHO for silver 1oz proof & I think I'm giving the panther a miss I don't like the design, you can see it in the flesh on this RM video about 2.25 in if you can't be bothered to watch it all.
  14. @westminstrel doesn't show the design just an email saying its for sale 9am tomorrow.
  15. @paulmerton I got the email too & that's a 1st, usually RM emails on the day of release 2 hours after everything has sold out lol.
  16. Yeah completer was just a scam/money maker for the RM, it is not part of the 10 coin set but is a very nice stand alone coin for anyone who missed out on the set.
  17. Why go to all the bother of minting a platinum coin, the Fed could just print a big trillion $ paper note, something they are good at perhaps with mickey mouse on it. Powell, Yellen & co love mickey mouse money.
  18. I'll probably collect them as there is nothing else at the moment that takes my fancy in modern coins unless the designs are absolutely dire. But IMHO the RM did a very good job with the QB series so I'd guess they will not want to kill the golden goose so to speak.
  19. @dicker that website I mentioned earlier in the thread was called Coins & Banknotes of Australia. For some reason all favourites I deleted years ago have re appeared in my favourites list lol. Still not a great deal of help but maybe some computer buff on here can track it down & see what happened to it.
  20. Dragon & Yale are the ones to keep, you'd struggle badly to get those two, strangely enough the falcon which wasn't that popular at the time is also hard to find & all three will be very expensive to replace.
  21. @dicker Looks like he stubbed his benson & hedges out on the Queens face @thesongofthunder that's the obverse not the reverse.
