Last week my quarter ounce gold proof Coronation coin arrived.  It looks to be a nice example.

My SOTD sovereign was sent directly by my dealer for grading, so I don't have a clue as to what it looks like!
I also received a few of the BU cupro-nickel Coronation £5s.  I have got to say I was impressed with the quality of the finish even though it was just a BU coin!

I will keep one and give the others to friends as momentos of the Coronation.  As a "thank you" for this, one of my friends gave me two USA half dollars (1907 and 1944).

I don't think they will be hard to sell but the current prices may well drop as the FOMO crowd move onto the next set of releases.

Longer term they will remain boyant imho.

    Hello, ladies and gentlemen!

I am delighted to be joining this vibrant community as a new member. Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Matt, and I have been passionate about all things antique and collectible, including silver, throughout my entire life. In fact, I have dedicated the past three decades of my career to this fascinating field.

Over the last six months, I have stumbled upon various YouTube channels, including Backyard Bullion (which is how I discovered this forum). I have eagerly consumed as much content as possible on silver pouring and casting. As I spend nearly eight hours a day working on my computer, I often have these videos playing in the background, soaking up knowledge and inspiration.

The more I watched, the more impressed and intrigued I became. I felt an irresistible pull to try silver pouring for myself. It has been an absolute blast and a refreshing change of pace from my regular activities. While I make a living by selling antiques and collectibles online, engaging in something more hands-on and creative has been a much-welcomed diversion from my typical routine.

So, taking a leap of faith, I invested in a furnace, metal stamps, liver of sulphur, and fine silver grain. Last week, I finally took the plunge and attempted my first pourings. You can see the images below to get a glimpse of my initial creations. Given my background in antiques, I couldn't resist incorporating some related items. The first oval piece features a study of an early 19th-century Grand Tour intaglio seal with cherubs. The second piece is a study of a late 18th-century religious portrait bust. And, of course, I couldn't forget the obligatory silver bar, which drew inspiration from the remarkable work of Backyard Bullion and other talented members of the Silver Forum.

As you can tell, I still have a long way to go in honing my skills, but I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or comments you may have regarding my first pours. If any of you ever come across antique or collectible items you're unsure about, feel free to reach out to me. I'd be more than happy to lend a hand and point you in the right direction if I can.

I must express my sheer joy at discovering a forum brimming with people who share the same passion. It is truly a pleasure to be among such like-minded individuals.

    Cheers and Happy Stacking!

    Matt

Cross-posting from the other thread, as like I said there - credit where credit is due for TRM. Really nice coin!

Pretty nice selection of coins. Not many bargains to be had & alot of overpriced coins. Worth going to have a look at coins you may not often see. I should be there

It's a good day out, lots on offer, the only downside it is pretty much a cash only event. I had to go outside with a few vendors so they could get a signal (cash only on the door also). Last time I went I came away with a few medals and a couple of early Brits I was looking for. @BackyardBullion did a vid a few years back, take a look as seem to remember there was a bit of a tour.

I find that with a lot of coin/PM stores in the UK. They really do struggle to beat HGM's best-value sovereigns. I did happen across one in Brighton a while ago that was selling Gillicks (with good toning) for just £2 extra than HGM's best-values though so was very happy with that.

Imo no - I don't think these are going to be hard to sell even with (minor) issues. You might get a bit less than one in perfect condition but those are likely few and far between. It will certainly be interesting to see what some of these are graded at.

One thing that I know for sure is that I will not be submitting myself to the pains of a multiple coin proof set for this one. I'm still recovering from my 3 exchanges for the Memorial set 🙃

The QC stickers appeared in late 2021, I think, during the fiasco of the proof 2022 Platinum Jubilee sovereigns of which many were delivered having ‘escaped’ from their capsules.

The odds are though that the sales they make from all of these releases exceed the money they lose via QC returns/replacements. I would say that it is likely a calculated decision for the business which honestly makes it worse as it means that an element of that strategy is to just sell off their reputation for short-term gain.

SOTD just arrived. I've got to give TRM credit where credit is due because it has arrived in decent time and has no visible marks under initial close inspection (not that I'm too bothered about that considering what it is).
