Definition of tautology: Using the words "ebay" and "fake" in the same sentence!

Its possibly the Quality Street trick? Reduce the size of the tin and keep the price the same, rather than leaving it the same and increasing the price

Looks like they're based in the U.S. of A. so you'll have to pay freight charges and maybe VAT.

A big thanks to @Mtaybar for the 7 x 1/4 oz gold and @BullionBob for the 2005 1/2 sovereign.

Rains reacted to HerefordBullyun in A good deal?
The question you need to ask how much did you pay for per brit?
Sovs going for about 375 in decent condition but also depends on what they are.....

Rains reacted to TomCooke in Hi!
Thanks everyone! I should also mention that my other half is a geologist, so if there’s anything that’s been niggling at you in that department, feel free to mention it (she’ll wonder why suddenly I’m asking questions “for a friend” 🤣). She’s more on the coal and halites side than metals (oh, also dinosaurs!) but always keen to find out new stuff 🙂

Rains reacted to TomCooke in Hi!
Hi there. Brand new here, very occasional collector/seller-back, and coins are pretty :). I like Britannias better than sovereigns, for what it’s worth, but there seems to be a bit of a shortage while they switch from 2022 to 2023. I stumbled onto the discussion about old versus new sovereigns, copper versus silver - another reason to like the Britannias, they’re more consistent apparently…

Hope it goes well for you, and I hope they do an internal investigation to find out who stole the item.

Rains reacted to MrStacker in Silver Bangle Repair
If the bangle is hollow it’ll be more tricky to repair. Usually they would need to fill it or “build up” with silver the broken hollow area then seal it. Sometimes laser soldering works but again it’s an expensive tool that jewellers would possess.
If it’s a solid bangle - soldering and repairing the bangle is more straight forward.
Best to take it to a local jeweller for them to inspect the bangle if I was you.

Rains reacted to Darr3nG in Question for stackers
First piece of advice is ignore the actual Gold : Silver ratio and focus more on the real "trading" ratio (with premiums)...
Step 1: What is the cheapest gold ounce you can buy? Usually a Krugerrand for about 3% over spot.
Step 2: From the Buy/Sell section of the forum, work out the going rate for 1oz Silver, based on current sales of full bullion tubes.
Step 3: Use that as your swap ratio, and figure out if it works for you...
Example: Right now a 1oz Krug is for sale @ £1560 and 1oz Silver is approx. £24/ounce - Trading Ratio = 64:1
Go one further and work out the the Sovereign to 1oz Silver Ratio... approx. 16:1
I have traded both ways, using this method and it worked really well - I possibly did it at the right time, but I was originally swapping sovereigns for 20oz Silver, and a few months later swapping back at 15/16:1 (free silver for me )
Good Luck! It takes patience and good timing, but can be done.
