JeffM got a reaction from GoodAsGold in 2023 Coronation King Charles III and Queen Camilla Gold Sovereign
In the U.S., we don't have all these QC issues with the U.S. Mint. The coins they produce may not be all MS or PF 70s, but we don't see the glaring and numerous QC issues we're seeing from the RM. The U.S. Mint doesn't produce as many different coins as the RM, but mintages of each coin are very large. I think the RM is biting off more than it can chew with continuous new releases that they can't keep up with. Now, their goal does not seem to be quality but rather get as many out the door as possible. Apparently, all the returns are not bothering them. But, if they spent more resources on QC before the coins leave the mint, they would be able to spend less time and money handling all the returns plus irate customer complaints.

I'm still waiting for many of the coins I ordered. But, I get the majority of mine from dealers, so that will take a little longer. Plus, I live across the pond, and packages take time to get to me. I still order some coins from the RM - such as the Flying Scotsman and Britannia proof/reverse proof set - and I'm still waiting for those. Guess I'm just destined to be a gentleman (?) in waiting! 😭

JeffM got a reaction from Muncle in What will happen to my SOTD sovereign order?
Well, I live on the other side of the world, and it does take a few weeks to get here after shipment. It was great when the RM used DHL or UPS to send my coins when there was the problem with the Royal Mail. Maybe I will just fly to Cardiff and drive to the RM to pick up my SOTD. Yes, it's THAT important!

My account manager told me that I would qualify for a 1/40 oz. coin, but there are none left to send me. So, she told me that there are several being returned for QC issues, and I can buy one of those - at 20% above RRP as an extra fee for dealing with collectors like me. It's SO good to feel appreciated!

Tomorrow morning at 6:66. Unfortunately, your Sovereign will have a curse over it. However, fret not!! The RM said that they will remove the curse if you promise to spend a minimum of £5,000 in RM products by the end of the year. The folks in RM sales are little devils, aren't they?

Wanna be jealous? I have been promised Anne Jessopp's sandwich wrapper and napkin from her lunch that she eats tomorrow (May 6). It's her very special coronation lunch trash, and I'm getting it! I am so blessed!!

I ordered one of the 1/40 oz. gold coins. If I get tired of it, I'll just give it to my dentist to fill any small cavity I have.

That's easy! It's because of the RM's elaborate and complex QC program. Every single coin is individually inspected for hours before approval to send to collectors.
