As it's 14.32 in dubai, that's quite a good time. 02.32 migh not have been quite as good.
@Souldancee might get a better deal from a well-known dealer in Blackpool, UK, than in Dubai, although I don't know about the shipping cost.

1854 Victoria Shield Sovereign WW Incuse Macro Photos and Serration Count
Whenever I see a coin in exceptional condition, I want to photograph it, although it's better if I delegate the job, and the Photoshopping, to others with more time and skills.
While modern issue coins are usually in "Mint Condition" (whatever that means), I get more excited when I see an older circulation coin in a high grade.
    Here is a recent example:

The "5" of the date looks interesting, and even the "8".
Some of the letters are doubled, or have die cracks or other features.
Thw "WW" initials are incuse. Gold sovereigns from 1853 to 1855 occur with raised or incuse initials. I could never understand why Marsh did not count these as separate varieties. He merely noted they exist, and left it at that. I will probably never find out, as it is now too late to ask him.
Before I show more photos, does anyone want to try and guess how many serrations? No prizes, and just for your own amusement. Answer shown on and below the last photo.

The "M" in BRITANNIARUM is doubled, and the bottom serifs on the "A"s are all joined up into one line.

Obverse with overlay showing the incuse WW initials.
...and for those who have volunteered for the serration count challenge...
    ...(drum roll)...

    The answer is 112.
You migh like to compare this with an 1872 shield I posted some time ago:

I have posted this under Precious Metals: Silver, but it could equally have gone into Precious Metals: Gold.
Precious Metals: General Precious Metals would almost have been good, but this discussion is not about platinum or palladium.
It is only partially relevant in the topic: "Silver Monitoring Thread £ (GBP) only", as the discussions about the gold:silver ratio transcend discussions in pounds. The same applies to "Silver Monitoring Thread $ (USD) only". The price of either metal expressed in GBP, USD, JPY, EUR, CNY, AUD, or any other fiat currency might be important to investors in those countries, but is a parochial view, and not of primary relevance when considering the relative value of gold and silver to each other.
Sure it is very common, and entirely normal, to calculate the gold:silver ratio by taking the prices of gold and silver in any currency whatever, as long as you use the same currency for both, and at the same instant in time, then dividing the gold price by the silver price. You should always get the same answer. Any difference may be because arbitrage positions in either or both metals in different geographical locations, creating slight price differentials in local currencies.
Although I am British, I would advice that where there are any differentials between G:S in different currencies, then the calculations based on US Dollar prices should be preferred, because like it or not, both metals are traded and quoted primarily in American Dollars.
Now, having got that out of the way, down to business:
I have added many posts in different Topics about the Gold:Silver ratio, including a few when it went over 100:1 for the first time ever.
I can no longer find most of these TSF posts. I can rely however on some information and advice pages we published on the Chards website.
    This page:
    https://www.chards.co.uk/blog/gold-silver-ratio-and-its-effect-on-silver-price/241
states:  "in March 2020 it peaked at about 121:1", but I notice that at 13.00 on 8th May 2020, it was 112.30.
I also recall seeing higher intraday rates between 124 and 128. I may now need to do some more research to find examples.
I am aware that in September 2021, there was a TSF post "The Gold/ Silver Ratio Explained – Is Silver a Better Investment Than Gold?", written by pseudo experts in a rather sickly, condescending matey style, which failed in its heralded headline aim. It did not explain the ratio, and it also failed to answer the second question posed in the title. But them, I was not surprised.
Our own, very concise blog page above is, in my possibly biased opinion, a far easier read.
There is alo more on our linked page:
    https://www.chards.co.uk/gold-silver-ratio
Which shows the spot G:S ratio.
I was actually spurred to post this new topic because the ratio has just gone back up over 90:1
Please feel free to contribute any and all thoughts about the Gold:Silver ratio here.

I have been blown away by the communities kindness and generosity of late on atleast 4 different occasions all of which unprompted.
I have decided to pay it forward in a similar style to something i had done a few months back in the form of a give away. Anyone can enter wont cost you anything and no particular knowledge of coins needed just good old fashion luck.
I have been saving loose change in 50p,£1 and £2s for a few month now to put towards a dated sovereign for a run.
Il attach pictures of daughters piggy bank in question, closest guess to amount wins and no multiple guesses of the same number if i dont clock 2 of the same numbers claimed il take the 1st person who called it.
Prize is a free 1oz silver britannia i cover 1st class recorded.
I did recorded a time lapse of the coins being counted but phone slipped and caught none of it and im not counting them out again haha.

I wouldn’t draw down unless you have a strong proposition mate. I was considering drawing from my mortgage to get a wind turbine. Reckon it would pay for itself in around  8 years, especially if fuel prices keep going up. I’m really on the fence, especially as noticed the early repayment charge on the new mortgage offer sits at 5% for the 5 year term. Always check the details.

Maybe just wrong time, there is a lot of auctions recently with multiple unsold lots and realised prices have dropped across the board, proofs, commemorative, graded etc. on every platform
In number of the groups I am in I see the dealers complaining how hard it is to get sales at the moment.  I have pretty much stopped buying anything except the odd bit of bullion, and I think a lot of people are the same.

I don’t want to go in to too much detail regarding my supplier until I’ve had chance to check the coins again myself and spoken to them about it but they are a shop that buy from the public and test coins when purchasing.
As I said I would prefer to deal with this once all of the relevant information is known and without damaging anyone’s reputation publicly. Having refunded the buyer I had hoped that would be the end of the matter and I could take it up with my supplier myself in private but as this thread was posted suggesting the coins had been sold incorrectly I felt I needed to at least comment to defend myself to a certain extent.

As the seller of these coins I am happy to respond.
The coins were sold to me by a fairly big and very experienced gold dealer where they would have been XRF tested prior to my purchase. I am not willing to name the dealer until I have carried out further tests and spoken to them directly as I don't think that would be fair. That said I think many people on this forum would know the name.
Two of the coins came with certificates and while these don't really prove anything it does at least state what the coins are supposed to be and everything else matches up as expected. The buyer was not happy with the coins he received and asked to return them, as a gesture of goodwill I accepted the return but until I receive them back and can get them tested more thoroughly I am still of the opinion that they are 22ct. Whilst I understand the Sigma isn't completely fool proof, as stated earlier in the thread specific gravity tests can also be misread and that appears to be the only test that has been done on these coins. There is also mention of a pawnbroker looking at the coins but no testing procedures were carried out at all beyond looking at the coins with a magnifying glass.
So far we have three coins as follows:
Five Laurels (40g) - Passed both the Sigma and specific gravity tests, not sure what the pawnbroker made of it but assume all is well as nothing mentioned
Platinum Jubilee (16g) - Passed Sigma test, had COA stating details of the coin and came from the same lot as the Five Laurels so I have no reason to doubt it other than the buyer's own failed SG test. Also no comment from the pawnbroker
Brexit Coin (8g) - Passed Sigma test, buyer/pawnbroker claims 9ct inscription on the coin which if true both I and the very experienced dealer I bought from have missed. If that is the case then of course I apologise but I would like to see this for myself.
As I understood the workings of the Sigma machine there are different 22ct settings that will apply to the different alloys that may be used which is why they have different settings for Krugerrands, Britannias etc. Happy to be educated on this if I am wrong of course, I am quite new to the Sigma.
Regarding the postage costs, the buyer agreed that he would cover the return postage. I wasn't aware that he was unhappy with this arrangement but as he has now asked me to cover it I will do so. I had planned to refund postage anyway should any of the coins prove to be anything less that what I sold them as. My personal opinion is still that they are 22ct gold and I wouldn't sell any coin if I wasn't confident of the purity. I am of course willing to be proved wrong though and will update the thread if that proves to be the case.
Without meaning any offence at all, I don't think the buyer was ever 100% happy with the purchase even prior to receiving the coins and I thought I was being quite generous in accepting a return which many sellers/dealers wouldn't do.
