I was wondering if I should buy the memorial 5 coin set or wait for the coronation sovereign, also do anyone know about what the coronation sovereign design might look like.

Proof Britannias 2023 are released today. What so you think of the design? Are you buying anything? 
i do not like the design so much this year. It is a nice idea but poorly executed in my opinion.

Yes I believe you’re right about this.
Numismatics, in recent years, has become more about making a quick buck than actually collecting coins. The hobby, the act, of “collecting”, seems to have been lost somewhere.
We’ve had debates here on the forums about flipping, and how everyone can be called a flipper since we all buy with the intent to sell sooner or later, even if it is the next generation who does the selling, but I do feel like we gauge the success of a coin based on its short term flip-potential.
You’re right about the long term potential of the gold Gothic Crown coins. Especially the plain edge version (which has an even smaller mintage than the milled edge version, if I remember correctly).
I think the entire Gothic Crown range is mistakenly being judged with the same broad brushstroke - but the rarer gold versions, and the higher denomination silver versions, will definitely be classics in years to come.

In my opinion, Royal Mint killed this series with GC. Two coins sets with Large mintage and then plain edge variant… heavy price increases on top of all that.
Even with v.low mintages, again a two set which will be around £11k, i can not see why someone will buy this (unless multimillionaire collector who buys everything).
i’d rather save my money for the new proof special reverse sovereign and perhaps the coronation set.

We also did a serration count:

The serrations are quite fine, which made them slightly more difficult to photograph.
As you can see, there are 108!
The half sovereigns are similar, so I may add them later.
We have not yet done a serration count on the halves!

The design is the best i ve seen the last few years.  Maybe the most beautiful sovereign design. I love Jody Clark, he is one of the best coin engravers out there in my opinion and i am collecting his coins. I am definetely buying whatever i can get my hands on on Tuesday! Will aim for the big set as i think only the £5 will really do justise on the beautiful details on this design.
The demand will be very high and i dont think these will last more than a day or two.
Even with the increased prices, once these sell out, will be hard to get them at RRP again.

Memorial Sovereign is another masterpiece from Jody Clark. One of the most talented great engravers of our time. When people get the coins in their hands they will realise that. I think the design will look stunning on the proof 5 Sov. Too sad that the RM did not sell the artwork as they did with the Platinum Jubilee.

Received my 5 coin set and a single Sovereign from the Royal Mint yesterday. Had a good look this morning - Wow!
I think I have been one of the lucky ones (had problems like everyone with quality control in the past).  Apart from some minor frosting issues
on the double and quarter, they seem as perfect as can be. 
The  Quintuple in hand looks perfect, don't think photos can do it justice, an amazing coin (in my opinion).
Feel privileged to own this the Jubilee 5 coin set.
The package from the Mint was excellent, so credit where credit is due!

Royal mint as we all know haven't a clue. Phoned last week asking where my half, full and 3 coin set are. She said half wouldnt be until mid feb and other two early March at the earliest. 
Today postman brings me my half and full sovereign. Both of which under my loom look perfect 😁

Me blabbering on about the 2022 £5 Sov's............................    the 89 is pretty as well

That is a gorgeous coin and what a super strike and relief on it. I loved the soundtrack too. 🇦🇺 🦘😊
By the way, I know Chards had a video of the 2022 Piedfort Sovereign Pattern set last year. If they still have it in store, you may get a chance to film it. The £5 Piedfort would be amazing.

Although I could see them doing SotDs with Charles’ and Camilla’s cyphers as privy marks (like they did for Queen Victoria’s and Prince Albert’s birth anniversaries in 2019).
