Bigmarc got a reaction from SilverJacks in VAT on silver
The only way it matters is if you weighed it in and got spot for it because give or take a quid it's the same price from a dealer, second hand on here or eBay. If they stopped vat on silver then those holding will loose out.

Bigmarc got a reaction from SilverDrum in 10oz silver bar Is this damage acceptable?
This is why I like pre 1920's, you are buying it already battered and bruised, always seems to be a market for it too.

I've never thought CNN was an organisation with integrity. They don't really have a consistent set of principles.
Does that justify St. Putin's invasion? And you have problems with American military bases which they use to invade murderous regimes? It is a question of side for you after all, because you don't really have a consistent set of principles either.
Again, Putin can get out of Ukraine now if he withdraws his troops. Better still, he can resign as Russian president to get out of whatever mess he has created. But I guess he would not dare it as ex-dictators without power don't tend to do very well afterwards.
It's such a waste of time. I placed you in my ignore list. Wear it like a badge.

I did read the other day that BTC etf's value has already toppled silver etf's in the first week. Love it or hate it it's quite impressive.

Does the £390 allowance mean your total item value is capped at £390 or does it mean item value can be up to £1950 as 20% on £1950 is £390?

People buy health insurance, car insurance, pet insurance, business insurance, homeowner insurance, and even life insurance to prepare for life's unexpected curve balls.
They don't think about wealth insurance (gold, silver, certain crypto tokens, other hard asset commodities art/classic cars/whiskey)
or hunger insurance (dehydrated and canned shelf stable foods or mini farming operation if you have the space).
They think hyperinflation is a thing of the past because of modern technology / management techniques prevents it if they think about it all.
My advice is if you can afford wealth / hunger insurance to get it now.

Some people love it tho, natural doom scrollers and conspiracy addict's.
Have you tried shopping at markses lately. I think it's better quality and just as cheap (ISH).

Bigmarc got a reaction from Jeffers46 in My Bank Have Put a Block on My Account due to a PM Bank Transfer Payment
I pretty much just use a revolute card for internet purchases. I try to keep my personal bank separate at just let it do its thing. I once had a stopped payment on here and revolute cleared it within a couple of hours of filling in the info of the buyer. I never leave much money on the revolute as I use it as kind of a security barrier between my account and the world of potential dodgey.

Turn the TV off and don't read/listen to the news and you wouldn't even know mostly any of this is was even happening
Its all a perception deception - fear fear fear, worry worry worry, hate hate hate, fight fight fight, war war war
In other news, ive enjoy a lovely hour brisk walk along the beach, some salty fresh air in the lungs, listening to Rossi's Barber of Seville on the earphones and I bagged a whoopsie fillet steak in Lidl last night for £4.40 im going to even with some nice thick cut chips done in beef dripping with a peppercorn sauce for tea. Life aint always doom and gloom - just a matter of perception what you are worried or choose to be bothered about

Bigmarc reacted to LemmyMcGregor in Liquidity: Have 1oz coins had their day?
I know that trusts are still a thing, I've discussed them in the past with friends and when the time comes I need to nag them for more information, however, I am the wrong person to ask.
To put it blunt, I've been in metals for less than 2 years and I'm still a newbie, I started with them seeing someone collect some Britannias, never really considered them prior, so I bought a couple of silver ones just dip my toes in and start to figure it out. In my case I went with precious metals before saving as I was a compulsive spender, metals gave me that barrier that prevented the money just flying out of the window, if I really needed I could have sold at a minor loss, but better a minor loss than a complete one. With time I got better and I started saving cash as well.
Coming from a different necessity made me realise that there isn't a standard answer, the best bet is, in my opinion, to listen to all the bells and see how you can fit that in your experience.
