2022 Jubilee & Memorial IMO are the cheap ones to buy now which should attract a premium in years to come

I detest the 2012 it was horrific. I don't like the clip art 2005 one either. I also don't care for the 2002 sovereign, the lack of legends around the edges makes it look bland. It's like they wanted to replicate a Vicky shield sovereign but forgot half the design.

I started collecting in 2014 after a dabble with an element collection in 2012-14. I bought gold, platinum, palladium & rhodium. And not sold apart from 2 Rhodium bars near the ‘peak’
but I don’t trade & obviously recent coins are lovely but the prices haven’t sustained. Good I am a collector , of special & rare pieces. The gold rise is interesting but might price a lot of collectors out, & limit many more. Boom & bust ???
very interesting thread .

Exactly what I was trying to explain on Friday, the Shanghai, in the long term, will be the measure gold is priced in.
Although, before we get too carried away:
All these people saying "this is it," or that gold has decisive momentum, or that this rally is unstoppable are... expressing wishes, dreams, hopes, and hype, not facts.
Technical analysis is informed by the past. So, if the market just changed, previous trends and probabilities go out the window. Central bankers don't care about Fibonacci series, RSI, golden crosses, cup-and-handle patterns—or even price. They buy because their political masters order them to. And they stop when they accomplish what they've been ordered to do, or when their orders change. I can't see any line on any chart predicting that.
Some guy on X/Twitter telling us what we want to hear ("Gold's going to da moon!") is not a rational basis for investment or speculation.
Some well-respected guru telling us what we want to hear ("Gold is likely to go much higher.") is not proof or foreknowledge of what will be.
We don't know what the big Gov't buyers orders are, nor when they will be fulfilled.
I'm still long term optimistic, very, but not enough to fill my boots quite yet, especially with a few below spot deals still happening as @Spyder alluded to in his sale post.

This is the GOLD thread my friend. When you sell GOLD of the CGT-exempt variety, you don't have to declare anything to anybody, zero taxes are due. When you sell BTC to someone you are legally obliged to record that transaction and the P/L in your tax self-assessment, which you have to fill in every year. With GOLD if you are in the same room as me I can just chuck it at you and job done. If we are in the same room and you want to send me BTC you have to pay the gas fees and/or wait longer than the average RMSD delivery time
BTC isn't a currency and it's never been money. If you want MONEY then you buy GOLD and SILVER, everything else is credit or magic internet money
Key point: With BTC you must declare both yourself and your trading partner to HMRC every 12 months and pay CGT or income tax depending on the nature of the transactions. What an absolute nightmare. You rely on the network, on connectivity, that you don't make a mistake and send your coins to Mars or North Korea, and your privacy is totally invaded.

RDHC reacted to refero in The Ezen Collection - Auction of the year? (spoiler)
not sure this is an already public news.. but i spotted sone clues on Heritage website few days ago... and my understanding is that the Ezen (or part of) sovereign dreamy collection will be auctioneed as of next May in the US
i m talking about dozens and dozens of incredibly high graded coins. And not gillicks.. but pre victorian... and shields. Ms 65-66 in most cases
Just to give you an idea... there will be "the" 1841 sovereign graded MS65+ (top pop of course, and it will fetch 100.000 USD imo). As there will be an official date i ll post some pics; they will be way too expensive for poor blokes like me, but at least images are (still) for free.
I ll try to get my hands on the paper catalogue, at least!

If I remember correctly Romania joined WW1 in 1916 (or in 1917?) alongside the allies (Britain, France, Italy, Russian Empire).
Her entrance to the war was however a disaster as she immediately suffered a combined offensive of the four central powers combined (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire), that shattered the romanian army.
Although Romania (with russian intervention) managed to continue the war, lost half of it territory, including Bucharest and some of the most fertile land.
The wheat and cattle seized by the Central Powers from Romania, helped them relieve their precarious food situation, providing them enough supply for six months.

RDHC reacted to Robert001 in This guinea looks too good?
How odd. - I only joined the forum at Stackerp5’s suggestion so it seems a bit harsh to suggest otherwise. I inherited the peso, the, Guinea, a sovereign, a sacagewea dollar and 2 1967 one penny coins. I did indeed take these to a local jeweller who confirmed all genuine and purchased the sovereign but could not take the guinea due to the mount I asked Stackerp5 about the guinea precisely because he purchased the peso - I assumed an interest in coins. If there is a problem with the peso he only has to let me know which he can do through eBay.
So sorry no intrigue just a simple question from someone who knows very little about coins.

Browsing Britannia Coins website this morning and it appears they have some stuff that is on a fixed price and not tracking spot
For example shields are the same price today as they were last Friday
https://britanniacoincompany.com/buy-coins/gold-coins/full-sovereign-victoria-young-head-shield-back/
Given they were selling on here at £425/430 when spot was at £1600 this seems a decent price right now

Sell you gold off to @James32 quick before April 2nd or you'll get stung with the Royal Mail price increases.
Look at the higher tier SD insurance costs ! 🤯Someone's got to pay the postmasters compensation i suppose

I have some PMs in a retail business that is held for investment/hedge during difficult times. My sales are stagnant (I sell items that are aimed at working class people - who have it hardest with food and energy prices - hence no disposable income). So I'm looking to sell some PMs while times are quiet (so I can invest in something else that generates income).
But my personal stack is patiently waiting, I intend to hold most long term. I will always sell some along the way to put towards my annual ISA allowance and I'll always have items that I keep purely because I enjoy them (e.g. unusual silver coins or date runs).
I personally think the metals will have a big sell off (e.g. over a 3-6 month period) when the liquidity crisis comes but then a long bull run for years. However, who knows what will happen when governments move the goal posts and can change the global economy with one decision overnight.

RDHC reacted to GoldDiggerDave in Opinion on Grading
Grading a coin is exciting at the start with a whole lot of nothing in between and either disappoint or jubilation the end.
There has been some slower submissions over the Christmas holidays. I've currently got 9 separate subs that all have gone in at the same time they are all moving at different speeds, some are in grading and encapsulation 3 weeks before others and they all hit the US all at the same time. The fastest usually is ancient coins for some reason.
The other issue you can get, the coins are sent to the US in bonded batches and they have to come back into the UK in the same batch.....Not just your coins there may be hundreds or others submissions......If theres a hold up with one it effect the entire batch in terms of time.
If anyone else want to know about grading just ask I'm happy to express my views and I don't BS anyone. I do regularly speak to the guy in person at the NGC so if theres any questions I don't know I'm happy to ask them.
