Rumistacker reacted to stefffana in 800 Silver identification - polite request for help
It is for sure an italian hallmark after 1970, when the star mark became mandatory in the front of maker number and region initials, but without a better picture I can not tell you what town or maker name.
Try, please a better picture and maybe we can help you with more informations.
All the best!
Stefan.

Rumistacker reacted to LawrenceChard in 1839 sovereign
He sent them back because some were scuffed. They didn't come in capsules or even tubes in those days.
Bloody sacks, I ask you, what sort of quality assurance does that provide?
The Americans were even worse stackers. The coins had bagmarks when they opened the sacks, so they melted them all down, and turned them into $10 gold eagles.

Rumistacker reacted to SidS in 1839 sovereign
I wonder how many sacks @James32 ordered? 😁
Seriously nice 1839 sovereign by the way. The earliest of the shield dates are by far the most attractive.

Rumistacker reacted to LawrenceChard in 1839 sovereign
Actually, a lot, possibly most, 1838 sovereigns got melted down.
"The American diplomat Richard Rush was dispatched to England by President Andrew Jackson to collect the bequest. Rush returned in August 1838 with 105 sacks containing 104,960 gold sovereigns."

Rumistacker reacted to refero in 1839 sovereign
Sharing today one of my most beloved sovs; everyone usually chases 1838 which is a lovely, and expensive sovereign, but not that rare even in high grade. Being the first year of Victoria, it has been kept and stored carefully since the beginning... but few did the same with the following year, which was looking like just one amongst the others (same happened for 1841); this coin is therefore very elusive in medium to high grade, and, quite surprisingly, pops more often in its proof version rather than the bullion one..

Kilo Bar Golden Handshakes For New Staff at Blackpool Bullion Dealers
Actually, more of a familiarisation exercise for new team members to see and touch popular products.
They didn't get to keep them, just to have a 10 minute fondle.
Modesty prevents me from naming the local coin and bullion dealer!

Number 1) he's thinking "if only my football career had of taken off"
Number 2) is thinking "yawn..what times love island on"
Number 3) he's trying too hard 🤣 yes we can see the kilo bar
Number 4 looks mischievous? Shaved head and wearing burglars gloves🤣🤣 he's waiting on camera to be turned off.
Number 5) she actually looks kind so she gets a pass.

If you know anyone selling silver coins below spot, send them all to Blackpool.
If they have got too much to bring by car, we could arrange to send a truck!

Rumistacker reacted to stefffana in Which silver coin brands are worth a higher premium?
Hi, Sybilla!
It is very difficult to predict how your silver will sell in the future and how much from the premium you have paid will be recovered when you will sell. It is a lottery.
All of us been fascinated about shiny and beautiful coins and all of us have overpaid at beginning for first ounces of silver.
All of us have learned quick that stacking silver and collecting coins are two different leagues.
Stacking is accumulating for weight at the best price possible, collecting is paying sometimes high premium for our pleasure and/or vanity.
My advice is to start accumulating first looking at the best price possible, and in time, after gaining more experience in coins and precious metals you can start buying what do you like.
Keep an eye on Buy/Sell UK section. Because it is the most active section on forum, you will check and learn very quick about the real market prices for silver bars and coins. You will see that the correct priced coins will sell in minutes and others will not sell. You will see also in real time the real demand for silver.
Good luck in your journey!🤗
Stefan.

Rumistacker reacted to Sybilla in Which silver coin brands are worth a higher premium?
I have been researching silver coin prices for multiple brands for a few days now. To me it seems that some silver coins are worth a higher premium, because they will likely also sell above spot price.
Maple leafs, Brittania, Philharmoniks seem to have the best deal, because these coins have the lowest premiums... However when I look at selling these coins, they always go below spot price. Which is the case for most silver of course. These brands give me the impression that it is just a matter of stacking them en selling them when the price of silver goes up.
I also came across a few others brands which seem to be worth a higher premium, because they are more desirable or part of a collection. For example Kookaburra. A lot of people seem to collect every year of this coin. Older years of this coin seem to sell for an even larger premium.
Please keep in mind that I am very new (I might be completely wrong) and I researched the prices in my country, which might differentiate from the prices in other countries. However what I would like to know... Which silver coin (brands) could possible be a better investment and are worth a higher premium, because they will likely also sell for a higher price.
