GoldStatue got a reaction from Arganto in Yankee Stacking on Milk Spotting
I quite enjoyed it when he said milk spotting was like a unique security feature for silver coins, you know it is genuine because it milks and no forger in their right mind would try and duplicate that feature 😀

GoldStatue got a reaction from westminstrel in New coins coming soon.
It reminds me of the Prince George 8th birthday crown that JC did for the Royal Mint, I wasn't a fan of that design either.
It's a tough ask for any artist to re-interpret St George and the Dragon it has been done so many times and there are some real classics.

GoldStatue reacted to LawrenceChard in A big RM announcement coming soon
Looks like a clear breach or Royal Mint Embargo:
and...
Which is not very ethical or professional, in my opinion.

Oh gee!!! I loved Jody Clark’s work on the Queen’s Beasts series, but that St. George and Dragon design is rather questionable.
Yes it’s cool… but it’s certainly not classic.
This is why I am apprehensive of any reinterpretation of the concept. ☹️

My stack as of end of Q3 - A bit of Bullion - Brits, Maples, Krugs, Dollaridoos and Phillies, some Perth Mint, RM and Germania collectibles and a bit of gold, plus a copper bar. Now largely focusing on gold as I have about 80oz of silver.

I decided to buy my first coin last Thursday after joining the forum. Started with a 1/4oz Britannia and decided I would only get myself one a month and not be silly.
Five days later I now have a 1oz Britannia, 1oz TB Yule of Beaufort, 1/4oz TB Lion of England, a 2022 double sovereign and three sovereigns. There's also a 1oz TB Lion due tomorrow and a 5 sovereign BU on back order with RM.
You're all bad influences 😁

Could it be news of the next Sovereign release to help people get over the commemoratives disappointment?

Nice to see they sent you a bullet with your water bottle, I guess that's the Royal Mints way of saying don't come back 😀
I can see why they might have stopped showing people around their collection, I've got a long list of coins that I'd like to see in hand so would have been in there for hours.
Unfortunately that was probably the only way I could of got an original Una and the Lion in my grubby hands.

2022 Australian One Kilo Silver Kookaburra Bullion Coin by Perth Mint - Photos
I can't remember whether I have seen any of these before.
Perth Mint are usually very early with their new coin releases, so expected to see 2023 dated coins, and was surprised to discover these 2022 dated ones arriving so late in the year.
Like most mints, Perth have experienced big demand, and production delays, which might explain things, but without further ado:
Single Kookaburra on reverse, above, and:
Queen Elizabeth II still looking good, above.
Especially for @DrDave:
A "moody" angled perspective shot, just to show he doesn't own the monopoly on them!

GoldStatue reacted to Shinus73 in Memorial coins - advice needed
Royal Mint retail prices are not determined by whether or not they are limited coins. The mint price is the mint price, regardless, and the secondary market determines whether or not mintage will influence the ongoing price.
None of the unlimited mintage coins will be a lower mintage the limited coins.
They will be a good buy if you want one, not if you want to sell one for a profit.

GoldStatue reacted to Silverlocks in What's your latest stacking goal?
I think the good and bad thing with sovereigns is they're boring. With silver you can buy 10 coins or a tube or a bar for a sum of money accessible to most people and feel you've achieved something. Getting enough gold together to make it look like you're doing something concrete is a much bigger hurdle. My entire silver stack wouldn't buy even half a tube of sovs. Not so much dopamine reward.
Nonetheless, I'm pivoting away from silver to a mix of sovs, occasional 1oz bullion and maybe other stuff if it comes up at the right price, plus a small sideline in collectibles.

GoldStatue got a reaction from Silverlocks in Sovereign stacking success
RM don't even make the gold planchets anymore, I believe they buy them off of the Perth Mint.
They always go on about the Labour government of the 2000's and the war in Iraq but Gordon Brown selling off the nations gold is hardly ever mentioned, that was a travesty.
Great lets hold a load of different currencies all inflating away to zero at differing rates instead of gold, future generations will really thank you for doing that!
