I'm sorry I can't stop giggling at the fact so many English people are buying a coin made to mark 100 years of irish freedom from the united kingdom 😀

    Review of math.
    Spot is now 1560 euro/ozt.
Price of the coins is 1500 euro/ozt.
That is 3,8 % below spot. For a PROOF coin.
    Please update your post.

They don’t provide a tracking number unless you ask for it. They also don’t reply to the online form.

If you haven’t already tried it, they do reply to the above email address if you send them an email requesting a tracking number.

Premium have reduced for Sovereigns at Chards. Before it was 5%  for a single piece. Now it starts at 4.5%, going down depending on volume. Good job, Chards!

Perhaps expecting a price drop for gold and trying to encourage people to buy them now? They are still in "orderable" status, not "in stock".

werewolf got a reaction from Chuffnell1817 in Beginner - Sovereign vs 1/4 oz
I would definitely opt for Sovereign. It has history attached to it and it is of cultural value in my opinion. I'll give you a simple example , though you may find it might not be of real value in the UK.
In Romania, a new international PM dealer opened their business recently (in January I think). I won't give their name because they are not worth it. They sold historical and modern gold coins at excellent prices in the beginning. They had a 4% premium for standard 6.45 g coins, even lower for some Austrian coins. And likewise excellent premiums for other bigger coins. Except for the British Sovereign. The premium for it was a lot higher since the beginning - 8%. All premiums went silly high in a few months after the opening.
What I am trying to point out is that the Sovereign might be worth well more than bullion value at least in some other parts of the world.

Getting a foothold in gold so you have a hedge with the forthcoming economic situation after this pandemic is a better idea than most outside this forum think.
There is a significant chance that inflation is going to happen that is tangible to the average person and there is a significant chance that the world vs China (CCP) is going to affect things too in whatever form that takes.
If you only have enough each month for a fractional coin you are going to get hit by premium in the long run if you are just after bullion. You could alleviate this by investing what you have each month into something like BullionVault (not an ETF!), so you have skin in the gold game. Then, when you have enough in there for a lower premium 1ozt gold coin you can cash out and buy that. Rinse and repeat. Think hard about the premiums. I think it's a shame that fractional gold punishes those who cannot afford or just don't want standard 1ozt bullion all the time but that's how the market works unfortunately.
Either way, dealer premiums on physical are high at the moment so you could wait for things to settle before getting a coin or two without losing out on the price movement by doing the above.
    Just my opinion of course.

Since the sales part of the forum is filled with a lot of 2016/2017 Britannia or other similar coins ranging from 19 to 22 pounds, I think some would consider this a deal:
    https://www.silver-to-go.com/en/silver-coins/maple-leaf/1-oz-silver-maple-leaf-coin-2020/
For 19.25 pounds or 22.05 euros. Kruggerands are 10 cents cheaper for those interested.
They are selling only in multiples of 25, but I am thinking that whoever buys silver in this times has some currency available, beyond their energency fund, and 500 pounds (minimum quantity + plus shipping) shouldn't break the bank.

Getting back to the price per coin(oz) I still think it's high and I am not pulling the trigger on this offer - maybe if it was 19 euros(instead of pounds) per coin...
I don't want to start a discussion herea, but man, some hefty "premiums" in the sales section. I thought buying second hand should be more affordable than brand new. Not to mention the risk you are taking by sending money to a complete stranger without any contract. I mean... coin shops or online dealers offer 3 pounds less for buyback than what they charge when selling. I would have guessed prices would be somewhere in the middle, or 2/3 towards the seller. My message to most of the salesmen: "Good luck negotiating your prices with the online dealers/coin shops, cuz I ain't touching that!"

Well, some sites use different exchange rates to protect themselves against big changes.
Just go to chards, quote the price in pounds, and convert to euro. You will get a lower euro price than the site's quotation in euros.

Probably most will have seen this but Chard's 1/2 oz secondary market gold is showing as 'in stock', premium over spot is pretty good:

On the subject of Baird & Co if anyone wants bullion half Sovereigns but doesn't want to pay the big premiums attached to them on eBay they've got them in stock for a tenner over spot:
    https://www.bairdmint.com/products/king-edward-vii-gold-half-sovereign
I'd like to buy from forum members but thus far I've only seen wonderfully shiny graded examples that are (justifiably) priced with a numismatic premium.
If anyone sees fractional gold deals with small premiums slap the link in here 😁👍

Baird&Co were impressive, quick process and quick delivery. It helped spot was down at the time of purchase too. I may even go through the hoopla of sending them 72 forms of ID and a stool sample to sign up properly...
Perth Mint seem to have some good deals but they mostly say 'unavailable online' and would probably have a large shipping cost attached...😜
