Yes correct.  The effect is amazing.

If I could click ‘Like’ a hundred times I would.❤️Photographs will never do those coins justice.

Amazing coin @CowPat

Yeah it’s pretty nice. I’d never really considered getting one before I’d seen one in the flesh but when I had I can see why people like them so much.

Does anyone know if there are any fake 1kg kookaburra coins out there? The coin below is on eBay at the moment at an attractive price but I’m not sure if the details are quite as sharp as they should be on it.

Coin looks fine, it's because you're looking or at least trying to look through a capsule.

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Anyone excited for the 2024 design? I love it! 😁

Definitely getting one in 10oz version. I think it might be on pre order at some dealers but haven’t properly checked.

I usually pick up my kookaburra coins from silver trader.

Does anyone else draw a distinction between the 'classic' series to 2021 and the redesign (font, border etc) from 2022 onwards? Personally it was a bit jarring for me and I've either spent too long with my Kook collection or am a boring old fart (more than likely both!) and with the change to Charlie as well found it sadly easy to consider my collection (only the 1oz regular designs, including the P20 set) 'complete'.

I've just found some privys, once I find the rest (only the 2018 duplicates so far) I'll be looking to move some on if anyone can recommended where they're best appreciated?:

 2016 - lunar monkey

2017 - panda

2018 - lunar dog (also have pandas in other storage)

Or happy to do a deal involving a swap for other ones I don't have :)

I'm very much on your side in believing the fundamental changes to the design on the kooks is unnecessary, unappealing and a decided negative.

The grotesque use of such a large font to proclaim that the coin is a Kookaburra is patently absurd (Koalas have also suffered the same ignominious butchering) and strikes me as yet another example of the ongoing tendency to infantalize anything and everything for the benefit of an increasingly dumbed-down public.

Thank you @kimchi - we need more such curmudgeonly observations imo.

@kimchi yep I'd agree with you ,could well be that we are boring old farts though.

When you look at that pic of the 2005 that @CowPat posted above that is a simple beautiful design & a classic example of less is more all IMHO .

Having said that I  am a collector & will buy graded 2024 to 2029 to fill my ngc boxes up & them I'm done with them.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.
