At least they're pretty clear about it in their title and description.

I could only hope so. To clarify I'm not a fan of these being sold but trying to see at least some positivity that this seller isn't blatantly trying to scam people

I know mate and some do market them as "space/gap fillers" for your collection,   but if it is worth their while to fake a coin that is only sold for a few quid what else is fake out there

I'm alright, Jack, Keep your hands off of my stack

By now after so many discussions the moral of the story should be well understood :

"don't use ebay for anything other than cheap tat like sellotape or drawing pins"

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would buy or sell pms on there : although I hold my hand up to doing it myself in the past, but that was before I was fully switched onto what goes on on ebay.  It's just not worth it.

I see many listings with descriptions, "Might be fake, price reduced to reflect this", and the seller has knocked £2 off. Pandas are one of the most common like:

Copy of 2012 China 10 YUAN Silver Panda Coin 1oz | eBay

I've seen this seller list the same coins with either, "might be fake", or no descriptor at all as well as "Copy". This copy is 35g of 9999 silver??? How does he know that?

I'm tired of reporting eBay sellers, nothing happens. Eagles, Pandas, sovereigns, gold and silver bars are heavily faked items

Mind is primary and mass-energy is derivative

@Pandao, could you explain how you can spot fake pandas? What to look for on those coins? I'm just trying to compare to the images of genuine ones and I can't spot the difference.

Hi i don’t know how to explain it.  😄 just with my experience.

I did a post on this a while back. These are older pandas which are faked more often as they are more valuable, but many of the same mistakes are made. Developing an eye is important - you have to have seen genuine ones enough to be able to spot the difference - it is all about attention to detail.

For example, most of the time the fur looks wrong on fakes - it is too "thick" and crude.

There are occasional glaring errors like no denomination or completely the wrong font. Compare with good photos of genuines.

There are plenty of fakes to be found on eBay, you just have to be careful and not go with something that looks dodgy, off, or is from a seller with very low or questionable feedback/reviews. That is what you can do for the most part (just look for the telltale signs, and if something feels off, just skip it since it isn't worth the hassle).
