  1. Thanks for all the pointers everyone! Just buying one from Gordy now.
  2. That’s good news. I don’t have a sigma though so a little worried about fakes. Maybe that is irrational though since it is a brand new design so any fakes would have to be quite quick to get any produced. As long as the seller has good reviews I’m sure I will be fine. Thanks.
  3. Really like the new Christmas tree 5g Gold Bar released by the royal mint this year. Was wondering though, is it worth just buying it for £320 from the mint or will major dealers have them in stock soon (since I checked bullionbypost, atkinsons and chards but only saw 1g version at all (even listed as out of stock))? Was just asking since I don’t want to miss out on this stunning new design, but also don’t want to buy it if I can get one for £20-40 cheaper in the coming weeks if big dealers start selling them too. I would appreciate any tips or insight here. Thanks in advance!
  4. I have 10 unique handmade designs of pyrography/woodburning items which I have made by hand over many hours. These are perfect as a gift or present for any occasion, or even just as something to decorate an empty wall or room with. Note: No fixings or wall mountings are pre-fixed or drilled into the pieces (you will have to find a frame for it or drill through it and put it on the wall yourself). Also, none of these are varnished wood. Dimensions: for portrait orientation pieces (18cm width & 27cm height), and for landscape orientation pieces (27cm width & 18cm height). (Looking to sell these in the near future. Will wait till Sunday evening this week and if no PMs, will list these elsewhere.) PM me for additional photos or info if you are interested (open to reasonable offers if interested, or discounts if you buy more than one item). Thank you! Free postage within the UK. Bank Transfer only please. Thank you. 8. I have made a new account (this one) since I had an old account but wanted to start fresh and build up my feedback rating since I have some things from my stack I’m looking to liquidate for an item that I found. However, I can access the ungraded section for silver to make a sell post. I don’t know how many posts I need to be able to do this, but I want to try and sell my items soon since I don’t know how long the item I am looking at will last before someone else snaps it up. If anyone here can clarify what to do, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
  9. I suppose another one of my concerns is that when not buying from an established dealer, I am worried about getting a fake as I don’t own a sigma metalytics precious metals verifier, and even if I did, the base model only penetrates a 1/4mm below the surface of the metal. An XRF would be ideal but there are no local coin shops I can visit in Scotland that would own one (that I am aware of). Shame, but I’m more looking to diversify my portfolio a little into physical PGMs as I have a decent Gold/Silver stack for now and am just looking for a decent sized bar to add to my periodic table display
  10. I don’t see the whole going green thing for cars before 2050 as there are too many to replace so I strongly believe that platinum and palladium have a lot of room to climb back up after their fall. Just didn’t want to be stung by saving up for a full oz and then Pd and/or Pt does a mini rhodium and then I don’t have any at all for my display when I could have got it in the cheap.
  11. Will do. I am just going to buy from wherever is the cheapest premium over spot for the Pt one (either gold.co.uk, bullionbypost, chards or atkinsons in all likelihood). I know how big each one is as I have made to scale replicas/placeholders so I have an accurate idea of scale before I buy them. Thanks!
  12. Hi there, I am building a periodic table display and two of the samples I am still targeting for the time being are a 1 oz Pt and Pd Valcambi Suisse (or maybe Credit Suisse (it depends)) Bars in Assay. However, I am worried about the price skyrocketing (for Pd and Pt) by the time I have saved up enough to buy each of the two bars. So in the meantime, I am going to buy a 10g Valcambi Suisse Pt bar as well as a 1/4 oz Baird Mint Pd bar. My question in the title is directly linked to this, as I want to know how easy (or hard) it would be to sell off the 10g Pt valcambi suisse bar and the 1/4 oz Baird mint Pd bar for a healthy profit (factoring in premium that I would charge over spot as dealers don't give favourable prices for buy backs IMO)? This is so that I can reinvest the profits in either other areas of my display that are missing pricey samples, or to make up the difference in funding for a full ounce bar for either a Pd or Pt bar. If you have any suggestions of insight, please leave a comment as I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you for reading and thanks in advance.
  13. Thanks for the pointer, but I have my heart set on a bullion minted bar in assay packaging for the time being. I might just have to scrap that idea in the future, but for now I have made cool placeholders (to scale), so that I know how big they really are and how much space they will take up. Expensive nonetheless though. Thank you.
  14. If you are talking about 1 oz silver bars, I got mine from a company called thecoinsupplystore which is an american brand. The shipping was about 40% of the total price though so you might want to buy a few things there to ease the postage burden if I were you.
  15. There are plenty of fakes to be found on eBay, you just have to be careful and not go with something that looks dodgy, off, or is from a seller with very low or questionable feedback/reviews. That is what you can do for the most part (just look for the telltale signs, and if something feels off, just skip it since it isn't worth the hassle).
  16. I am looking to acquire a 1/10 oz or 1/4 oz Rhodium ingot/bar for my periodic table display in the next few years. However, my problem is that I have found that despite the Rhodium price dropping off a cliff over the past couple of years, dealers are refusing to lower prices (e.g. a 1 oz Rh bar being listed at around £13,000 when it is only about £6000 in melt value (not including the hefty 20% VAT)). I don't feel comfortable buying something like a 1/10 oz or 1/4 oz one off of eBay either as I don't have a sigma metalyitcs precious metals verifier, nor do I have access to a coin shop that could lend me use of an XRF machine (not even a coin shop as that seems to be more of an American thing (plus the lockdowns probably destroyed what few Highstreet independent dealers remained up to that point). If you have any pointers, tips, or advice to help me out here, I would really appreciate if you left a comment on this. Thanks for reading and thanks in advance!
