I'm fairly confident now that this is a die clash error, as you can also see some of the hexcurity features from the reverse die appearing by the eye:

I've spent so many years looking at his ears that I hadn't noticed the baggy eyes, you could pack luggage in those. 😉

Morning TSF has anyone else got this error on these particular coins?

I only own 5 of the new Charles III brits at the moment, I'll check later, but I won't hold my breath!

It's a really cool find though, it's possibly even a rarer find than the rotated QE II brits which backyard bullion posted recently.

Very interesting...I have never seen something like this.

Have you contacted @BackyardBullion for an opinion? Eventually to send to him one of your two coins to do a video on YouTube, maybe a better visibility will help. The second coin I would send it to be graded, for an expertise done by experts.

There's no doubt about it, it's a die clash error. There's no other plausible explanation if you look at the overlay image.

I have seen another die clash on 2023 QE2 Brits - a different variety.

On another thread, I suggested that the switchover from QE2 to KC might result in interesting errors / varieties…..

So far this seems to hold water given that has been posted here and I have heard elsewhere…..and it’s not just silver ;but have not seen with my own eyes)

Recently picked up a rare 2023 KCIII brit with the old QEII portrait 😀

Same issue indeed AgD. Let's hope there aren't too many.

I'm with you there 👍 a bit of luck hopefully with a release. Hopefully gets recognised as an error

Sounds like it probably isn't going to be too rare if a couple of people have them already out of relatively small samples.

As for value, and bearing in mind the above, I love error coins but I'd probably only pay a small premium in the £10-£15 bracket (at most) to get a die clash error like that, even though in my opinion it's a cooler error than the rotation ones.

Another reason I'd ascribe it that value is simply because there are many more exciting die clashes out there, where you can make out the outlines of distinctive features from the other side of the coin rather than just hexagons from a background field.

E.g. here's a cool circulating 50p I found last week, where the "50 PENCE" text is visible (in reverse) where it would appear on the other side of the coin:

And this one has the outline of the Queen's face appearing to show through as a clear result of a die clash:

I think you need to open your heart more Paul.

Error coins are completely new to me and I thank you for sharing those images mate.
