  1. I was excited to see them on the dealers websites too, but looking at the price I cannot justify buying tubes. Looking at one online dealer who is selling a tube of 16 1/10th silver brits at £89.47 at the time of writing this post, which is about 48grams of silver, so at 63p a gram that is just over 30 quids worth of silver. So that's nearly 60 quid lost. That is from the VAT as well of course. But for me the premiums are way too high. I might buy a few coins just for my hobby of collecting coins, but as an investment it is a bad call. Just my thoughts on it.
  2. Are you sure that isn't the graph for bullion by post's premiums? 🤑
  3. I get that dealers are out to make money and it's obvious they need to make a profit. But they could still buy from people for 10-20 quid more and make a profit of around £30. (That's basically a free ounce of silver for every bar, for their troubles) I suppose it's really the VAT that kills silver as an investment.
  4. I received that email too. Not very appealing is it. Instead of "ready to sell"? It should say "ready to get ripped off and give us free money"? You'd think they might be a tad more generous, then perhaps more people might be willing to invest in metals more, but when they see loses like that I think it would probably put the vast majority of newbies off. I can see the value in TSF for buying and selling, despite my moaning and groaning in a previous thread.
  5. Ewwww wouldn't touch fleabay with a bargepole. Good on you guys for reporting the seller.
  6. Just something about "building reputation" or trying to win a popularity contest for the sake of selling a few quids worth of silver now and again just rubs me the wrong way. That's fine, it's not for me. I want to sell on my terms and not basically just hope some random stranger on the internet is going to do the right thing just because he/she is in "the trusted ranks". But as I've stated a few times, I get why this situation exists and understand why you guys like it, and that's great for you. More power to you. It's really not much of an issue for me anyway, I didn't join this forum to buy or sell, I originally just joined for conversation with like minded people on the subject of stacking and PM. And on that side of things I have found this place to be great, lots of knowledgeable and friendly people here.
  7. Yeah I can see more people swapping out to half sovs, or 1/4 brits/1/10 brits as the price of gold rises. Unfortunately the dealers will probably see that trend as a prompt to raise the premiums too. So either way, the less wealthy will end up eventually being priced out of gold, even with the lesser weights. Then again, I have to ask myself, is gold really increasing in price or is it simply adjusting it's value to the weakening of fiat currency?
  8. I don't doubt it works exceptionally well, very well for the trusted. Not so well for the new people who still have to worry that they won't be ripped off on the word of other forum users saying "don't worry he is fine" Just look at the recent example, the guy who scammed, people vouched for him using the trust point system here, he used that trust to make his final transaction here an act of theft. But as I said, i get it, we live in a dangerous world with scammers everywhere, of course no system is perfect. I'm not saying the system here is bad, I just have my concerns about it. It might be my loss, but I'm not too concerned about my reputation, no one here will be buying from me because I won't be selling. Not because I don't like the people here, i actually like a lot of you, you seem like really nice people.
  9. Hmm when did I say that? I literally didn't make that statement, so why should I try to defend it? I can think your system is flawed but not offer an alternative system to replace it. You can also ignore my feelings on the matter without becoming triggered. Cheers.
  10. I wasn't actually really making an argument. I was just posting my feelings on the matter, my opinion. I think I mentioned that. I also stated I understand the reasons for the policy of trusted members receiving goods first then paying later.
  11. Been here for awhile and already been involved in conversations. I mostly lurk here to read topics that interest me. But as I mentioned, I'm not that concerned about my rep because I probably won't be buying or selling on here. I like the people here, you all seem like nice people, but I think the trust system you have here is flawed for the reasons I already stated.
  12. Although I understand the post first get paid later when selling to well known forum users, it still leaves bit of a bitter taste in my mouth because it feels like the community is being split into the privileged popular people who can have things sent to them with no risks and then the rest of us who just have to trust some guys on a forum who says don't worry that person is fine. I mean those trust worthy people had to start out like the rest of us didn't they. But I get it, we live in a world where bad people exist who want to take things that don't belong to them from honest people. But it seems one of the unfortunate side effects of that reality and the counters you guys are making to it, is the haves and have nots on the forum, the privileged "trusted" and the rest being great unwashed untrusted who must take all the risks when selling. That's just my feelings on the matter, just my opinion. There is no right or wrong, or any kind of argument to be had. When I joined the forums awhile ago, i was tinkering with the idea of perhaps selling on here one day, but after the recent scams from a "trusted" person, I decided to perhaps not bother, which is why I'm not too concerned about building my rep now and just speaking plainly. I suppose I am more angry at the thieves and dishonest people who ruin good things, rather than being upset with the system here.
  13. Yeah I imagine you're correct there. I bought a tube once, but then it vanished when my alarm clock went off, so I can't check mine. 😅
  14. I see, nice find. That is one error sov I wouldn't mind being sent by accident. 🙂
  15. I'm a bit confused if OP received the coin or was just sent pictures of it? Nevertheless, really interesting coin.
