🇬🇧🪙 For sale here is an absolutely terrific George II Shilling from 1745! 🪙🇬🇧

Minted in 1745, this wonderful George II shilling is a whopping 276 years old! Quite impressive considering the level of detail on what is, ultimately, a low denomination coin used in common circulation!

As a 1745 example, this marks the first of the infamous Lima years of 1745 to 1746, during which many of these these coins were minted from a large hoard of silver captured from the Spanish by Admiral Anson's squadron operating in the Pacific Ocean. On these Lima examples the word 'Lima' is engraved below the bust of George II, referencing the fact that the Spanish silver was being shipped from Lima, Peru back to Spain when it was intercepted by Admiral Anson!

Although minted in 1745 this is one of the non-Lima types. This is the standard strike and was not minted from Lima silver. It is, however, a wonderful little example and would make a fantastic addition to any collection! A real piece of history right here!

These historical details and further technical specifications can be seen on the Numista reference page for this excellent coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces13121.html

All-in-all, this 1745 shilling is a wonderful little example and is present in a very much collectible grade. Subtle pinkish hues compliment the intricate, peripheral details of the reverse, and an antiquated patina on the obverse completes what is an all-round strong example.

This coin is both touched by and steeped in history. Go on, make it part of your collection today! 📖🪙

Sale price is £45 plus postage at buyer's cost, choice and risk.

Payment via bank transfer is preferred but PayPal friends and family will also be accepted.
