Nice 1893 sov

I just don't like the "widow" head design myself, even though there's nothing really wrong with it, except perhaps it's lowish profile.

Do you know where I can pick up an unc young head for 249?

You will struggle to pick up a Victoria in genuine uncirculated grade of any head /year, although you stand a chance in a widow head.

Any year YH shield in UNC will cost at least a grand. Even a late G&D will cost north of £500 probably.

Is there a chance you're thinking in US Sheldon terms here, they call quite lowish grades uncirculated. What grade number were you thinking of?

I would love to pick up something that hits MS65 or MS66

OK so you are talking about a true UNC then; BU or near FDC

I've never seen a YH in that high a grade. You're talking thousands for a shield and about a grand for G&D maybe. difficult to say as so few around.

Unless you want to check out the infrequent specialist auction houses sales, get on ebay and look for Jon Blyths' listings (I think he has a website too), they usually end on a Sunday evening.

It seems better to pick up a coin in the USA already graded. I really like graded coins but sending them for grading seems to be a bit of a lottery.

£35 delivered for half ounce proof, ouch!..But got too keep stacking fun for the missus too:) Cant imagine issue price was much less than that, plus grading costs money too.. So for a PF70 I don't actually mind paying that.
