Yeah but surely he would be liable for the listing cost and then the final selling fee ? Why would you fork that out yourself for your own coin?

Listing cose: free

final value fee: £1 (there have been a lot of £1 fvf offers recently) and if he's really tight, just ask to cancel the sale from the account he bought it with, £1 returned.

wait a week or two and re-list, try same tactics. If he can shill it up by even a hundred pouns, it's probably worth all the hassle.😟

question is; was it a genuine auction or shill bid up so high he won it himself? let's see if it re-appears soon.

if it was a genuine auction, any under-bidders should now be buying up any lower priced BIN listings.

that's why  someone offer you on ebay  8xx right after that auction don't u get it ?

also I had a bid on that auction at 740 so at least two people I know isn't a dummy bidder

Wow, one of the £1,249 ones got sold.

Have you a link to the evidence of this please?  Perhaps the website I use isn't very comprehensive?  Or perhaps I'm not being creative with my search term?

I can only find this one that sold on eBay:

There are much lower BIN prices, just checking £895 and £950, no way someone paid £1249 just for the fun of it

but the LCC is a most reputable and trusted dealer, of course you'd waste £500 and buy from them for peace of mind.

That depends who is selling it sometimes , maybe they have better coa numbers ? Who knows . They are well known on eBay that’s the peace of mind

I don’t believe one sold for £1249. I emailed that seller a few days ago asking if he was interested in buying my coin & they didn’t reply.

Why would the seller want to buy your coin if he's trying to sell 7 already?

Sure, but maybe he saw something about the other coins for sale that he didn't like.

I have no idea if he would want to buy my coin, that’s why I asked him. Plus I’m not greedy so I’d sell mine cheaper than he got the other 7 for.

It's the London Coin Company, they will have got these at wholesale prices, below the RM issue price. Were you willing to sell for less than £500?

In that case boy aren’t they being super greedy asking £1250. **** Turpin springs to mind

It's irrelevant, if they were confident of turning a very tasty profit at £1250 they would have snapped up any further they could get at £400+ less, unless their exposure was too great but as far as I know this company has pretty large pockets (?). Even Harrington and Byrne who claim they have 'special contacts' and never need to buy from 'the man on the street' sometimes offer to buy certain proofs at way over issue price (which they then sell on for more).

I find this 'sale' slightly suspicious myself looking at the bidding history. A company with seven in stock would no doubt be very 'keen' to see one sold quickly at their BIN price and start the ball rolling, even if it cost them a few quid... 'The market' is a cat and mouse game on this coin at present, nothing has been established, not even 'while it's 'hot'' flipping as we've seen with some of the more successful/hyped recent proof issues. Medium to long term I don't see Ebay as the place to sell these - they are very specialist coins and should be treated as such, unless you have an Ebay offer and can cheaply slap a BIN price on. Otherwise, you need to find the market.

That said! I am very encouraged by the look of the market for these, I think they have a good prospect! A shilled (if it was) BIN at £1250 does not mean that the coin cannot achieve that imvho. Others have been sold privately at close to that or thereabouts. The Matts may become diluted (clearly going to be yearly now imo) but this is the one to have imo, even though I don't like it (sorry!) and so didn't bother. The unknown is where people will have to choose where to draw the line on all these issues as they increase (and they will do). Personally I would cash in, but all our financial circumstances are very different.

What I find most encouraging so far for this coin is the lack of flipping after that super fast sellout compared to other recent efforts from the Mint. And if folk think this coin is nice (I'm sure it's lovely in hand) just wait until they see some of the other special and distinctive SotDs since 2017 in hand.

I’m confused on these too..some are selling without good enough quality photographs to make an educated guess as to condition. The one selling tonight (16th June) has some ‘issues’ I would not be happy with..(see pic) I think a lot of sovereign collectors will be waiting to buy a graded one, and pay a higher premium for it.

I've  noticed some of the ones for sale have the black spot on them, that may effect resale in future.

I've seen it too, isn't it curious that the black spot is always at the same place?

Yeah, I think you're absolutely right. I think this coin, not being a proof, is not always guaranteed to get a high grading... we may see several 68's and 69's... 70's will command a decent premium. Mine is not bad but I'm almost scared to send it off to be graded lol. 😛

Below the dragon?..i have seen several with a spot there. So far, I have not seen a single one of these coins without a fault, including my own..an MS70 one of these will be rare indeed in the future.
