  1. I hope every single person who laughed at this reported it also. To us, yes it ridiculous but to a lot of people its not. Its not funny, it fraudulent and preys and those who are one or two steps outside of our circle… parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents etc
  2. worth pointing out, NGC only conserve if they deem it will improve the coin, even if you have asked for it. NGC only charge a small handling fee if they decide not to conserve.
  3. maybe they know something we don't.. perhaps that one is really gold with silver plating, oh, hang on that would still be too much in the current market 🤯😄 As others have said, seems very dodgy, money laundering or shilling but will be interesting to see where it lands.. it does heritage and the market no good whatsoever in my opinion.
  4. A bit more googling needed by you @CollectorNo1 😉, but I'll make it easy, Scotland has had only one Queen Elizabeth, the current one. In fairness to the Ops post, he did give a clue in his post...
  5. Technically not mine 🤩… but im grading it for them. 10oz…
  6. Random purchase for me, not PM 😬🪓 Will be carefully removed from the blister pack and sent for grade Edit, now safely out of the cover and quite a beautiful coin that I thought deserved better photos:
  7. Agreed @richatthecroft, I've held lots of Brits also, mainly proof gold, 1/4oz to 5oz (and I had a platinum run of 1/4's until recently). I collected them as I genuinely like the designs, there isn't really a bad one as far as Im concerned. But.... in my opinion they are a spot play + 10% to 15% premium in raw, popular graded 70's maybe 30%. There are one or two of the designs that are marginally semi-numismatic that do command a slightly higher premiums and may increase over time (2014 comes to mind). They are one of those coins you stack, in proof or bullion because you like them but I don't think the average premium above spot will move much anytime soon, there will always be a few outliers and auction results that seem to break the ceiling but when the dust settles and the herd moves on these go back to their average. That said, as Richard mentions, British coins in terms of grading are still at an early stage and just starting to get global interest compared to the US etc, the 'big' British coins doing very well but they are completely detached form their metal price, so maybe in time if Brits may become more sort after, but that in my opinion is a risky strategy to buy into and they should be collected because you like them but keeping an eye on spot. Can't really comment on the bullion ranges, these probably perform differently.
  8. Decent George IV sovereign, i’m in two minds about it, but shall be graded and i’ll see.
  9. Although unlikely, a Gillick obverse 😃 lovely coins @AndrewSL76, congrats. not a bad effigy of the queen either, they’ve put some thought and work into it.
  10. Crazy, not sure it can be a typo but seems very iffy when you think if you only moved on one lot you could be the maiden bidder for $1k on a coin exactly the same!?!? yeah, grubby old thing, needs a good polish. Belongs in a stack not a graded coffin 😉… im watching that one too. Will be interesting to see where it ends!
  11. So… currently on heritage, pre-bidding for the platinum nights in a few weeks, what am I missing? 🤯
  12. very fair photos if you have been sent these to asses. It's determining what hairlines are from die polishing and hence the minting process and those that are from post production. The lines that are straight and parallel, don't cross the devices and are pronounced rather than 'into' the coin are just from die polishing and are part of the minting process and normal, particularly on older proofs. Also they don't effect the grading process. its the hairlines crossing those that would cause an issue. Those circular hairline's following the radial of the coin are likely from the coin rotating in the original box and very common to some degree on 1937 coins and do impact grade. not sure if the coin has a few prints or its just a bit hazy. if the former then that does effect grade, if the later then conservation normally helps greatly. Best of luck!
  13. I like the design of the George III Military Guinea, just very expensive so I'm happy to settle on this very nice example of a Half Guinea…
  14. Received these back during the week and thought id share before they went to the safe. Both beautiful in their own way, but the Unite is very pleasing. Sorry about the cropped photos of it, it is at the extremes of my lens and it was that or a blurry photo. Important coins from a short and interesting part of British history
  15. No problem. They shouldn’t but an email or call to them first to square it all off is probably worthwhile. Their system is clunky as you know and they rely heavily on person involvement and they could easy miss something unless you’ve sorted it with them. Nice bunch of guys though and they’ve always been great, just nothing happens quickly
  16. Hello mate, ive had similar issue in the past. I managed to head it off before it was posted from London. You might be able to catch it in the US but it was already shipped before i realised. You’ll need to raise a new submission form but its just so NGC can process it against a new number. However, im not sure their system copes well with it and the coin in question sat around for a while in london and in hindsight i wish i’d just taken it back and resent it so it re-entered the system in a normal way. best of luck, it’s annoying but they do sort it out.
  17. Thank you for this, I was after more information on these as I recently picked up this 1880 across here in the UK simply because I liked the coin and it was a bit different to what I normally collect. It is currently at grade. If I understand correctly the mintages were quite tiny on all of these.
  18. Few back from grade, this one being the star ⭐️ edit: Apologies for the slightly blurry photos! Camera maybe needed a wipe
  19. They’ll have had mine Monday too. I might follow it up…
  20. My 2oz silver proof set has just been refunded despite requesting an exchange. First time ive ever had money back when I've requested an exchange so reckon that could be that. Anyone had a different experience?
  21. Yes, max mintage 260, 250 limited sets. Photo attached @westminstrel asked to see an example, attached, they are incredibly beautiful. the set is let down by a few having copper spot and two of them being marked, I will be exchanging though. I also got the 2oz silver, frankly the mint should be embarrassed. Like others have said, the majority of mine (7coins I think) are milky so going back, tempted to just refund on them
  22. Thank you for posting this. Interesting, I wonder if it is an indication as to what the RM will issue, like the three graces was. Personally I won’t buy Alderney coins, to me their value is mainly in their metal content and I have very little interest in collecting them, other than maybe as a filler in a set or run. But, they seem to have a following and do carry a serious premium so maybe I have it wrong. thanks again, the reverses on both coins look fantastic and I do hope it is what the RM are releasing
  23. A lot going for it and a few issues. Lovely in hand though, fantastic lustre
