modo-φάντασμα, in 1942, it started like with 10.000

and I think a few weeks after your 5.000.000 note, it came to 100.000.000.000  (100 billion) 😱

yes, the above note say 100 ΔΙΣΕΚΑΤΟΜΜΥΡΙΑ  https://www.wordreference.com/gren/δισεκατομμύριο

So, as everyone can imagine, one could really appreciate a gold sovereign back then 🙂

Anyway, the first sovereign I bought myself is the one cited at the very beginning, and I am really proud of it. Long live the Royal Mint!  😛

That is a simple, but crucial question
Generally, I enjoy to live a life a bit under my pay-grade, so I can effectively save money.
Sovereigns, have a bit of a magic aura for me; and they might even carry a bit of family history.
My great grand father during the mid-war times, used to save always in Sovereigns, due to the high inflation in his country, Greece.
In fact, the family survived the German occupation on stacked Sovereigns (the good old Drachma back then soon became less valued than todays toilet paper), while the neighbors literally starved to death (a significant percentage of the population died on famine back then).
I still have some pretty old sovereigns from them.  Some in the form of pendants (that seems to be have been a hit in any respectable wife's dowry), or others drilled(!) and chained together on the context of some weird local folk women's uniform piece 🙃
So for me, the Sovereigns are something like between heritage and the last line of defense in times of hardship. I would like to have a certain portion of my wealth on them, they are holy items 😀
But, I certainly do not need any fakes in my stack...

People for the vast majority are ignorant of anything that is not discussed on the news and, as you might imagine, the state sponsored media will not discuss anything that the state does not want people to discuss.
Back in Oxford at the pub I raised concerns for LTNs and ZEZ (local ULEZ), I was saying how new LTNs were being authorised while also introducing cycle lanes which were bound to remove all parking in East Oxford, I pointed out how business were bound to be doomed, also, once the ZEZ would have been approved it would have been expanded as soon as the "trial" showed positive results.
I've been called a conspiracy theorist, did not matter when I told them that all the information was available on the Oxfordshire website, I even offered to show them on the phone, they were not interested in my "crazy sites".
    https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/connecting-oxfordshire/low-traffic-neighbourhoods/east-oxford-ltns
    https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/oxford-zero-emission-zone-zez/view-map-zez
Most people have been trained to react in the same way, when you tell them what is going on and you point out that officials or ministers have publicly discussed, or that the bank of england itself has detailed information on how they plan to use it, doesn't get through, people have been programmed to listen to the news and ignore everything else, so that's what they do.

PS. OOPS! Thought it was another thread, didn't realise it was the gold monitoring thread, probably the above is a tad off topic. I shall not remove it as I believe it is a good response to the topic, however, I shall not discuss it further.

Stupid people didn’t just appear with the scamdemic, although it was one of the most notable side-effects of the alleged virus. Stupid people have been around for a long time.
So, it is no surprise that "intelligent" people studied and wrote about them before the hoax exposed them in their billions.
In 1976, a professor of economic history, Carlo M. Chipola, published an essay on the laws of stupidity. The article “The five universal laws of human stupidity” gives an overview. His first law states:
Law 1: Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
No matter how many idiots you suspect may surround you, Cipolla wrote, you are invariably underestimating the total. The problem is compounded by biased assumptions that certain people are intelligent based on superficial factors such as their job, education level, or other traits that most believe to be exclusive of stupidity. They are not.
According to a 2007 University of Nevada Department of Psychology study on college students,  the frequency of common phenomena of inner experience (inner speech, inner seeing (aka images), non-symbolized thinking, feeling, and sensory awareness), only 22% to 34% of this cohort have a self-reflecting capacity and are maybe able to combat their stupidity with spiritual practices.

Aussie RBA just released the results of their pilot program on eAUD: https://www.ledgerinsights.com/australia-central-bank-digital-currency-cbdc-pilot-2/
“The key findings from the project will help to shape the next phase of the RBA’s research program into the future of money in Australia,” said Brad Jones, Assistant Governor (Financial System) at the RBA. “Alongside our ongoing work on cross border payments, this will include deepening our understanding of the role that tokenised asset markets and programmable payments could have in the Australian economy.”
"Per the graphic, a CBDC can yield five key benefits: the guaranteed value, direct control without intermediaries, programmability, atomic settlement and transparency. However, the majority of participants preferred privacy over transparency.""

You're right, the general populace are not talking about it - but please remember half of the folks have sub-100 IQ... (hence, Kardashians).

It's true that we wont be able to buy a pint of milk and a dozen eggs with a silver Brit or a half Sov, but it's also true that when governments turn rogue and outlaw or render invalid something which a large number of people want, then that entity simply goes underground and becomes a black market commodity. As bad as physical currency might be, it's still an accepted medium of exchange which millions of people use and prefer over and above those bloody phones, supermarket automats, or whatever, and when CBDC day arrives and cash is taken away from them, many will resist and find another way.
You cannot completely crush the human spirit as so many of these cretins in the club seem to think you can, and this fact has been proven time and time again throughout history.  Take the bladerunner resistance to Khan's ULEZ as a current example of that.   CBDC will be no exception.
