Bought as bullion so pleased to see a proof turn up, no case or COA. Capsule is the RM screw type and has a few marks but the coin looks good upon first inspection
 
 

Having served in the second Gulf War with our coalition partners, this latest arrival has great meaning...the “Behind Enemy Lines” Gulf War Gold Full Sovereign Coin Medal Set.
The set includes a 1980 Gold Sovereign, one of 16,289 Sovereigns that were issued to British Military personnel taking part in Operation GRANBY as part of the Coalition Forces during the Gulf War 17 January to 26 February 1991.
Sovereigns were provided by the Ministry of Defence and carried by any servicemen who, it was thought, might find themselves isolated and in need of bargaining power if confronted by unfriendly forces.
Several Sovereigns were used during the War, mainly by Royal Air Force crews shot down over enemy territory and SAS, but all the uncaptured coins were returned to the Ministry of Defence at the conclusion of the conflict, having served their purpose.
The Ministry of Defence confirms that this sovereign is one of the coins returned during the Gulf War by military personnel on completion of their missions into enemy territory.

Special delivery is specifically geared up for sending cash and precious metals; it is handled differently. There are various insurance tiers, the minimum defaults to £500.

This pair has travelled almost 15,00 miles across 3 continents just to complete my collection [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Really high price but a low mintage (200), a beautiful coin and the first of a serie of 5 coins (Trade Dollar GB, France,US,China and Japan)
 
 

When I got hooked to sovereigns, that was some of the first things I did. 2002, 2005 and 2012 were easy.
For the 1989, I ended up buying the set of three for 1200€ hammer price. Still undecided about the half and the double... I'll keep the half, most likely. 
Just last week, an auction of a 1989 full sov alone fetched 750€ hammer price ?

Bought the new Kookaburra 2018 BU and Proof set, before unavailable on the first issue date (March 6)

3 - 2018 Silver Swan Proofs, coming from Australia via Post Express! Will probably go directly to NGC for Grading.

3 more full sovereigns added to the date run today, 1903 London, 1904 Melbourne and a 1905 Perth. It's my first Perth mint sov so I'm very happy with that, only a Sydney and SA to complete the mint set and I only need a 1902 and 1909 to complete the Edward set.
