I think you're correct. I have seen this before, especially with GovMint here in the U.S. They commission issues that only they sell, or they buy a large hunk of the issue.

GovMint charges a ton here in the U.S. for all the coins they sell. Some are only available through them, so you pay a pretty penny if you want the coin.

My 2 oz. Coronation silver was sent to me this morning by my dealer.
Here in the US, GovMint/Modern Coin Mart is selling a PF70 Ultra Cameo REVERSE proof of the 2 oz. Coronation silver. I didn't know that a reverse proof of this coin was minted, but it sure looks awesome.

I am not touching these. No interest whatsoever. This is like a gimmick coin to me like those coins from Niue, Palau, etc. that have everything imaginable as a subject. No thanks.
Now, if the RM produces a coin of a crowned Anne Jessopp sitting on her throne, I'd buy it at all costs!

Do we even know there will be a SoTD for his birthday? It's really not that big of a deal. For sure, I can see them coming out with the typical range of gold and silver coins to mark the occasion, however. I have absolutely no interest in a SoTD for KCIII's 75th birthday - with or without the crown.

Very good pints! For the reasons you stated, I believe these will be pieces of history to hold on to. Add the coronation sovereigns to the Queen's Jubilee and memorial sovereigns and you really have something special. Glad I own them, including the SOTD sovereigns.
