Orpster reacted to SilverGlutton in Today I Received.....
Here's a Gold coin I recently acquired to add to my collection.
The coin is from the Eastern Roman Empire dated AD 457-474 from
the Constantinople Mint. The obverse depicts Roman Emperor Leo I
and the reverse portrays Victoria who was the Goddess Of Victory in
both war and peace. This Solidus was a highly pure solid 24k Gold coin issued
in the later Roman Empire weighing in at 4.45 grams and 20mm
in diameter. The solidus was the main gold coin of commerce during
late Roman times and this particular coin was also handed out by the late Emperor to
Roman soldiers for 1 months pay as well.
The meaning of SOLIDUS is an ancient Roman gold coin introduced by Constantine
(4th century) and used to the fall of the Byzantine Empire (15th century). This is my first
Gold coin purchased and imo, for myself I couldn't of picked a better one to start off my
Gold coin collection.

New arrival. A coin I can forgive for hitting the NGC goalposts.

Welcome aboard @evamax, maybe consider a trial silver membership so you can see sales posts as they go up, rather than having to wait 3 days

Oh yes, I like the Icons of Inspiration series. So I took photos of the other 6 coins I have. Thus 8 in total, there is also the 9th: Shakespeare, but I don't have it yet.

Orpster got a reaction from dicker in Shield Sov
Shields are a hard one to price at the minute I have to agree. For s while when spot was going mad the premiums dropped dramatically on them and you could get them at £10 over spot. I bought a couple of batches at £440/£450ish when spot was at £1850 but they seem to have dried up.
Most sales posts on bookface seem to be for generic bullion and people shifting their secondary mint s**** or their battered rubbish. Or people with no sales history trying to sell the three sovereigns they own. Some of the dealers have not posted for ages, though a couple seem to be moving decent volumes or brits and generic sovereigns at or just under spot.

@Sovhead Not sure if you have blocked me but you have not read the message I sent you 2 hours ago and show as left conversation on any previous pm exchanges we have had. I did message you on the original sales conversation too as I did not at first notice you showed as left conversation.
If you are not happy with this coin you are welcome to return it and I will refund and cover the return postage. Alternatively as spot has dropped I will refund the difference from what you paid and your advertised sales price (plus the postage you pay to ship to the buyer) as I cant imaging this will not sell at spot posted. Could the next person to read this please respond to it and tag sovhead as I am not sure he will see this if he has blocked me, I do not like the thought of someone being unhappy with a coin I have sold them and would like to see this resolved and make sure the buyer is not out of pocket.

Thanks, I don't think Sovhead knows me as well, otherwise he would have contacted me, my bad
I did not state on the sales post this was cleaned, so I am happy to take a hit and make it right. They were just bullion coins from a stack tube not from my collection and all I did was check the dates and post them up. I don't think it could have been polished or harshly cleaned or I would have weighed it in before now as I do with any I don't think are up to scratch, but happy to accept it may have been cleaned at some point as that would not generally be a red flag for me, though I would normally state it in the post as I have previously.
