  1. Just be careful what videos you end up watching. Some people end up having some strange ideas about how to do things and what is safe. On here, Backyardbullion is the one to check up on and get advice. Remember, if you melt down 925 silver, you end up with 925 silver. Otherwise find someone on here to buy 999 grain from.
  2. Next week is the new proof coming out … the lion, the first bullion will also be the lion. I believe it wasn’t until the second queens beast came out that they started with the bullion ones.
  3. Unless you are just buying to flip, who cares what price these are going for on eBay or if the mint has coins left? I like mine, will be continuing and will not be flipping! At least its a coin series that the more everyday funded person can afford!
  4. They really don’t care about people worrying about finger prints etc on a coin, this is something that has gone on for hundreds of years, once done more than once a year, to try to ensure the quality of the coins produced. Therefore they actually have to handle the coins. If you don’t want a coin that’s been handled, then don’t stress, just don’t try to buy one. Looking at one of these, most people probably wouldn’t even realise that it had been handled.

    Sovereign Stats

Representing £1, a sovereign would be common for some people, however, back then a lot of people could only hope to get hold of one.

No where near now due to the two world wars. Either melted and sent to USA or sent and then melted all to pay our bills!
  7. The continuity was a choice that not everyone would have gone for, the sweetener was the box with the second coin.
  8. Prince Phillip only changed his name to Mountbatten in 1947 as part of the process he went through before the wedding. He got baptised into the Church of England, and became a naturalised British citizen. He obviously had his roots before that in the Greek and Danish royal families, seeing himself more of the Danish side.
  9. 2oz proof Britannia from Royal Mint. Ordered late Saturday night, turned up first thing this morning! Looks great.
  10. Not a fan of slabbed coins, but.. got my first 5oz Britannia
  11. I would start by googling the names/gold/silver/type, etc.
  12. Just scrolling around and seen this. I take it you are aware how poisonous lead is when heated up like that?
  13. Far from me to say, but that’s amazingly quick for milk spotting isn’t it?
  14. Nothing about the weekend home robbery, gold Britannia sets etc.?
  15. There is nothing showing on the RM site for any lion coin for sale sure whatever we get next week will be the same format as the panther
  16. Been selling on there for years and not noticed that. If you search on eBay, there are loads of coins advertised from abroad particularly USA! go on help and check small print.
  17. Draw a line under this thread and start on about trying to get the new Royal Mint coin Monday at 9am!! Have a moan about the hassle!
  18. If you look at the regulations, bullion definitely exempt due to market fluctuations, ‘collectible’ probably not. However, if I bought a bullion item and between buying and sending back the bullion price went up, I don’t see a problem if I was to get my original money back? Obviously to simple for the suits.
  19. Is it to simple to suggest that they mint some new ones and when they get back the below standard ones then they melt those down, hence keeping to montage figures?
  20. Oh yes, eBay should have sent you a guest buyer email to confirm purchase and you can therefore use that to sort any problems
  21. Didn’t you use PayPal? Either ways however you paid, just cancel. Sounds like you may be getting ripped off. If not, you say she got back to you ref the name confusion? Surely you have that message to get back with? As a long time seller on eBay I find this rather dubious. You go to print off a label and your address is there. Annoyingly it sometimes try’s to get you to change the address as it thinks it is wrong, but you can easily get by that.
  22. Not sure about some of your comments throughout all this, however good luck to your lad, I know what he’s got to look forward to!!
  23. Sure there will be someone on here after it!
