You are assuming that the government does what's best for us, or the nation.

Well yes.  But your sentence makes perfect sense.

When did a government take the good of the population or nation into account rather than the voters.

  2. I'm a swing voter, I would say it would be a massive mistake for a goverenment to Tax gold buying.  The Bank of England has only a small amount of Gold of its own though it holds a lot of gold,  With private individuals holding Gold, the UK has more Gold than other countries beleive.  The same happened with silver every time the silver price goes high massive amounts of sterling silver come onto the market.

The population should be encouraged to hold Gold.  Its good for the individual and the Country.

  3. I had a bad experence years ago with Ebay.  They were running a 20% off all items at the time.  All the members of the forum which then amounted to about 20 ordered gold from Ebay.  I ordered a Sovereign from Bullion BY Post who at the time in the Ebay advert stated that the item would be sent out by Royal Mail special delivery.  The package was sent out signed for and went to a different address in my town.  It was Royal Mail who sorted it out.   Royal Mail who told me the coin had been sent back to Bullion By Post and they had received the coin, at no time did Bullion By Post inform me.   I also obtained a full refund from Ebay only because i had escalated it.

I remember the whole incident being a right mess at the time.

I have never or will never shop at Bullion BY Post ever again.

I love the look of FDC gold proofs especially the quintuple sovereign but when it it time to sell be prepared for a big disappointment.
Dealers will list these stunning coins, coin sets and boxed proofs at high premiums but they are selling and you can easily get suckered into buying as I did once, believing the premium will be retained.
Some sought after key date coins retain decent premiums but from personal experience all the others are only worth bullion prices when you decide to part with them. I am sure some sellers will argue but there will always be exceptions but when I sold most of FDC proofs, I struggled to get spot and that's when spot was over 20% lower than today, so a big mistake selling - according to Dr. Hindsight.

I agree with Pete as I remember this.

In my time i have sold a stack and when it is time to sell its mainly Dealers who have the money.

I have only just noticed this topic / thread.

Is it only new issue coins which are important, or collectable?

I would argue that real collectors can get more pleasure from ownng, for example, a "raw" 1887 London Mint, Jubilee sovereign, whatever grade, than by owning the most recent new release.

I could elaborate on much of the above, but would rather throw the points open for discussion.

    😎

    I agree with this.

  6. I've bought from them a few times.  Everything went ok.

Using your Banks Fraud department is strange,  companies can make mistakes.  I take it your complaint is  Bleyer Bullion are trying to get out of a contract because the metals price has risen significantly and they would make a lose in the trade you have with them.?

You will be able to get your money back easily through your bank if you paid by debit card.  Though myself i would want to try  and find out what has gone wrong and take delivery at the contracted price.  If Bleyer want your passport then i cannot see that being a problem to get your delivery myself.

    Ask them on the forum

Just had a call from RM and they've said they do restrikes in exceptional circumstances and after looking at my photos they want me to send my coin in for inspection and that they'll do a restrike if they think the damage warrants it. I'm still not 100% confident but hats off to the Customer Services guy who took it on himself to take it further after giving me incorrect info yesterday regarding restrikes - he did apologise  a few times during our conversation.

For a few pounds you will have your coin looked at and the worst  you will have the same coin and its cost you postage both ways.  A win in my book.

    👍

  8. The thing is, i was told the other day.

some people rang the Royal Mint and were disgusting to the sales and customer services which is not on.  I myself did not manage to get the first two coins in the series but i did not ring the RM and shout down the phone at employees.

IMO Coin collecting / Numismatics does not need people who shout or use disgusting language in its hobby

Well, most of the time I will have an all in cost or free postage for larger orders. On smaller ones I have always gone back and refunded postage where appropriate.

From your youtube videos i think we know you refund BYB.
