I love this set, i ve also ordered a silver one. £400 for 2x PF70 silver 1oz coins with soecial signed label is a steal in my opinion (considering how hard is to buy a raw silver and grade it as a 70)!
Memorial coin is average but the coronation coin is and will be very hot!

@James32 @mike1097 You are absolutely correct; that was a mistake on our part. Thank you for pointing it out. The memorial sovereign was the first bullion sovereign to feature the uncrowned portrait of King Charles III.

Don’t think so because of what @James32 says.

That is a great deduction and a strong possibility. 😎

That’s initially what I thought too, but @foinikas makes a good point. ☝🏽

I sent a couple of 1/40oz coins for grading! Results just in. Both got PR69DCAM which I am ok with as I expected perhaps much lower. Here are the true view images! Enjoy!!

Thanks @foinikas! Not sure where I got my 300 figure from. 🙂
So now I just checked the details of the 1oz Gold proof and realized that although the max mintage was 685, the presentation was only 500.
    https://www.royalmint.com/shop/monarch/charles-iii/coronation/ounce/the-coronation-of-his-majesty-king-charles-iii-1oz-gold-proof-coin/
What happened to the remaining 185?
Assuming a round figure of 5 or 10 or so were set aside for Trial of the Pyx type stuff, that leaves about a 100 to 150, so @JeffM and @Paul are probably right that the original mintages included the reverse proofs.
The 2oz silver on the other hand had both a max mintage and presentation of 1,000…

… so not sure what’s going on there. I’m almost certain the Royal Mint wouldn’t have minted 1,000 silver reverse proofs though, given the reverse proofs usually have smaller mintages than the normal proofs.

For sure, anyone who spends $6,295 for a 1 oz. gold has several screws loose in the head!  Of course, if it was actually struck by Anne Jessopp, that's a totally different story!

2oz silver. Still a pretty high markup.
The Tudor Beasts reverse proof is cheaper and has half the mintage. Just saying… 😉

Yeah it looks good indeed, and it is definitely affordable to me, but I’m past the point where I’m willing to buy a coin “at any cost” (literally and figuratively).
Besides, this has left a sour taste in my mouth because although I don’t mind exclusives if they are priced accordingly, price gouging by dealers is, for me, crossing a line.

Nothing too special in my opinion, i would rather buy the 1 oz gold which in my opinion will be the winner (together with the 1oz gold Britannia with crowned portrait).

This thread has really taken some wild turns over the last week.  It started with who is in, who likes the coin, what set, how many, etc.  The folks looking for a quick profit jumped in with debates on prices, mintage, the search for only 70’s, and complaints on RM service and quality.  Finally politics reared it’s ugliness with debates on KC III.
Let’s all take a deep breath and realize what we are talking about - a coin.  That’s all.  If you like it, jump in.  If you don’t or you don’t agree with the government, the prices, mintage, package, mintage limit ….don’t buy the coin or deal with the RM.
I’m a collector who loves his collection - some are perfect, some have flaws, but in the end I bought them because I liked them.  It’s a chance to travel back in time and hold something that was part of someone’s life - maybe they carried it in a war, or on their wedding day.  Some are worth a bunch, some just look good to me.

It’s a hobby (definitely an expensive one) but not my retirement plan and not worth raising my blood pressure over.  Happy hunting for your treasures.

    My 5 coin set arrived
    Looks pretty flawless to me.
Question is: To keep and take a punt into the future or to return and buy a boat load of bullion crowned sovereigns....
