The Tesco Credit Card transaction for bullion sovereigns with Hatton Gardens has cleared and to my surprise there is Zero additional payment charges.

As a post script to my post. I would say that Chards decision not to accept credit cards is a business decision and not a personal one against you @goldlips 

John Lewis once said they would never take credit cards. How times have changed.

The 'we only take cash' places also have a trend on the high street 

I can see both sides too but this forum is deffo not the place to hold a public rant against one of our members.

Regrets.  I've had a few. But then again 🙄 
The biggest problem for a starter is not get carried away. I've bought stuff as it seemed a great idea at the time then sold them ( often at a loss ) as I had overspent and needed funds. The thing to remember is you can't collect everything. It takes a while to find out what really interests you. I had proofs , then realised the packaging they come in takes up too much room to store them safely , every time I wanted to view them meant unpacking up to 3 or 4 boxes at a time. Then decided I liked older , circulated coins so the proofs went. I had a 1899 20 franc , which apparently is quite a rare one and sold it for spot . That was a kick the arse moment.  You learn all the time from mistakes so don't beat yourself up too much when you make them .

I've sold quite a few coins with COTR over the past 2 months and on the whole I've been pleased with the results.
I believe there are many factors at play at the moment.  The general cost of living and rising interest rates will make many nervous about over committing themselves at the moment.  The price of gold has fallen quite a bit in the last month or so and the number of new releases from the RM have drained many bank accounts leaving little cash left to invest in auctions.  I often find the summer months are less likely to achieve good prices - Spring and Autumn seem better for that.  Also (as someone mentioned) - the starting price is set by the seller and if they aren't prepared to adjust their expectations in line with the current market, coins simply won't sell.
I was surprised that one coin in particular fetched way more than I expected - the 1995 proof half sovereign (graded PF70).  Just goes to show that when two or more people want a particular coin high prices can still be achieved. 
Over all I like COTR auctions - I think they are well run and with 0% buyers premium they are competitive in this regard.
