Does Rhodium really have more uses than gold industrially? Is it rarer? I think this is a speculative bubble that will burst at some point

Rhodiums supply is 1% of golds annual supply, a tiny market mined in South Africa and Russia, because of that it has huge upside potential, hit $10k in 2008, with all the recent political turmoil $2k isn't a bubble.

I'm no expert but I have a few sovereigns and this one doesn't look quite right, you sure the size and weight are correct, just good to be sure, wouldn't want someone to get ripped off by an eBay scammer.

Very nice garthy, Always fancied a bit of Rhodium just incase it goes to the moon again!

Thanks Madstacks, that's what I was thinking.

With just 30 tons of annual production which amounts to about a $61 million market, and with 80% of rhodium mined in south Africa this stuff is so fragile, just one player or new use can move the price dramatically as we've seen in the past.

I plan on buying a 1/4oz every quarter this year and then selling a 1/4oz a time when the price is right.

@garthy 2011 Britannia masterpiece, 8oz or 250g ,that is an interesting coin/medal very contemporary design, any more info on it garthy.

Thanks MB, I really like it though it isn't too well known and for that reason lacks any real demand, limited to 500 and was originally sold for a whopping  £595, I picked it up at auction for around £250 after fees.

    It's a medal, 999 purity, 80mm in size, around 250g, limited mintage of 500.

The high relief antique finish is pretty special in hand, the relief goes both ways as hopefully you can see in the pic.

  6. Looking at the historic gold to oil ratio gold does look expensive, but then again I would think oil is more reliant on the overall economy when compared to gold.

It's tough to say where gold goes from here, demand's still looking strong but the general consensus still seems to be lower.
