My refund is now processed, but only after I phoned and complained I hadn't received it for 7 working days - turns out "something went wrong" with the refund and they then did it manual.
Call my cynical but with interest rates where they are just holding on to customers fund for a week or two adds up with the sums we are talking... For months at a time with no product even more so.
Service from them has been shocking, QC has become a joke, and the prices and premium are just to such a point now that I don't see how they will every be profitable. And I guess that's key, Maybe that's my problem, maybe I am just not a collector anymore
I hate to say it but I am done with the royal mint.
I will still enjoy the release threads and the mad anticipation when getting queue numbers, and the trials and tribulations afterwards seeing what actually turns up and if its fit for purpose!
But for me my collecting days are over.
    Bullion however ....

    Hello everyone,
A few weeks ago I visited the Japan Mint museum in Osaka. Below are a few photos of some of the collections highlights:-
    - Tensho Hishi Oban: these are the two first photos (back and front) and it is the only surviving large oval gold coin produced by the warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi. What a beauty!
    - the next two photos are the front and back of a stunning 20 Yen gold coin which were the first Japanese coins minted by the Meiji government in 1870 using modern minting methods, before that coins were typically cast.
The pictures after this are just some of what I thought were the most beautiful/interesting coins on display.
Lastly I have I have included a photo of the gold covered Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) Buddhist temple in Kyoto built in the 15th century originally as a villa for the third Ashikaga shogun Yoshimitsu.

Does anyone else feel a sense of desperation from many owners of the proof sets, to convince themselves/others that these will "do well" in the next few years? That's the overwhelming feeling I get.
Comparisons are drawn to the Platinum Jubilee 2022 proof sets, when I personally don't see how they're comparable:
    1. Queen Elizabeth II was a very, very popular monarch, worldwide
    2. No-one currently alive will see another platinum jubilee, it may take multiple generations or even hundreds of years
    3. King Charles III's (lack) of popularity, both domestically and worldwide. There just isn't much interest or care towards Charles
    4. The era that Charles III's reign/coins signify. Major UK cities being minority white, UK being overtaken by India in GDP, less than half of UK registering as Christian during 2021 census, general financial collapse of UK.
IMO proof coins featuring the Queen will continue to do very well. I think the RM will continue to churn out as much c**p as possible from this point, with as many special editions of sovereigns for whatever reason they can, just to maintain their margins and try to cash in on inexperienced collectors.
I've always said that proof coins are a very risky investment. They're okay if you know what you're getting yourself into, though many clearly don't, or they wouldn't be worrying or trying to convince themselves/others not to cancel.
If you LOVE the design, LOVE Charles III, then these are a good investment, as you're not going to be selling. If you're worried about resale value in a few years, why exactly are you taking this risk? Who do you expect to be willing to pay even more for your coins than the ludicrous premium RM already charged for these huge mintage coins?

I cancelled my 4 coin set a few days ago,  sick of the waiting from the mint, the potential QC issues - this years price rises and mintage was enough for me to say enoughs enough😐
£350 quid more than the 4 coin jubilee set.
No doubt they will be stunning coins if you get a good set. But I question the resale potential now and I can only justify paying such premiums if I at least think I can profit at some point. For me its too much this year.

I was fortunate that I sold out of 80% of my bitcoin at 55k dollars btc to put down a sizable deposit on a flat - the remaining 20% is pure profit but has tanked hard as would be expected.
But I am not selling, and have no panic. Bitcoin I do feel will come back with a vengeance and when it does it will go to six figures upwards.

yawn, as heard in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018… ready to go back in the cupboard to be dusted off again in the next cycle
I remember not buying bitcoin at £50 because it was “too volatile”. fortunately I have learned a hell of a lot since then, I would’ve have almost certainly sold it for £100 and felt smug for a little while, or lost my private keys
I was lucky enough to know a guy who mined 3BTC on his laptop only to have them stolen as he didn’t secure his private keys, made me learn self-custody
another guy I know purchased 20BTC at a few £ each to pay for a dodgy film he and his wife watched, he is philosophical  about it
I am still learning a hell of a lot about bitcoin almost every day
    stay humble, stack sats

I've never thought Bitcoin was digital gold. I'm not sure who started the term probably one of the bitcoin zealots like Max Keiser or Michael Saylor?
It doesn't have to be in my mind either. It goes up and down like everything else.
Joe public normally buys and sells on herd mentality and feel secure when everyone's wants to do the same thing.
Very few like to buy when its down though.
There are bad actors in every space. Isn't every investment viewed with the hope somebody will pay more for it later?
There will always in every market cycle be somebody left holding the bag? The stock market will crater again and the banks too probably?
Then the public will be left holding the bag to bailout the greed, fraud and incompetence.
Crypto is being integrated in the businesses and financial sector now.
It's not wishful thinking it's happening across the world.
There will be multiple winners and losers.🤷‍♂️
I'm fairly immune mentally to the fluctuations in crypto and precious metals.
If it gets to you that bad your more then likely over invested and over leveraged.
    Volatility creates opportunity to invest.
