My very first silver buy was a music legends Queen 1oz silver proof for my wife's birthday.

My first staking purchase was silver Brittanias and a 1kg Baird & Co bar

If you can get one currently around £750 then that equates to £23.32 per oz, so not too bad and still the cheapest way to buy silver.

I bought mine from a dealer so paid VAT on top. Even with the latest rise in spot, still not reached the price I paid. Though the dealer I bought from guarantees to buy back the same silver a few percent over spot. So this will be a very long term holding.

Bought some of the pure silver £20 coins directly from the RM when they came out in 2013 and then bought some of the 2014 £20 coins and then the £50 silver Britannia (Jody Clark design).  Still have these, but given the whole fiasco about not being able to use them as cash they are just something to enjoy holding as a collectable.  Thankfully I didn't buy very many, and I do like the designs.

In terms of bullion, I bought four 1 oz silver coins from Atkinsons in 2017 for about £21 per coin, delivered.  Spot would have been about £13.  These were a 2016 Year of the Monkey, 2017 Year of the Rooster, 2017 Britannia and 2017 20th Anniversary Britannia.  

I gave the Rooster to a family member and I still have the others.

Nowadays I would very rarely consider buying physical silver, I'd really have to like the design.
