Gold in Tank….Poor chap didn’t get a penny…

Recommended Posts

That's probably where all the fake bars and sovereigns with full gold content came from.

I am aware of laws saying you have to hand in treasure finds (though getting paid) if a museum wants them. And you might be able to keep them if the museum doesn't want them (that's how the 1953 sovereigns went to the market), but I have absolutely no idea what the law says about some bonus modern gold bars from an eBay tank. The whole thing is bizarrely amusing. Treasure finds have the questions of land ownership and tenancy etc, a used tank doesn't

If we do the right thing this time, we might have to do the right thing again next time.

Hmmmmm wounder how hard it would have been to sell with out raising to many questions.

Not hard, but would need planning, and setting up a business.

He should have handed a picture of the bars to the police and said when you find the owner send him over 🙂

Saying that Pawn shops don't take gold bars is just plain weird 😂

He might be one of them people that over shares his business. Where did you get the gold? Well its a funny story....

Im guessing on the other hand if he has the skill set to restore a tank he could easy chop the lumps up and melt it into small unbranded bars.

They will have been 1000s of sovereigns found over the years from people losing them after the Exchange Control Act with people not wanting to give them up.

That’s Nick, I get spares for my cvrt from him, happened a while back. Think there is a YouTube video somewhere of them finding them. At the time he thought it was the right thing to do, he’s an honest guy. Not everyone’s cup of tea but genuine nonetheless. He is having problems at the moment as he has a yard full of purchased cvrt’s waiting to go to the Ukraine for medivac but Barclays shut his account without reason last year and ‘blacklisted’ him.
