Nope, investment gold over 90% is excluded from VAT in the EU. You may be charged and have to claim back with receipt though.

They will at worst case make 20 -25 quid a so worth it from that perspective 

Is 20-25 quid a bar worth the hassle not so sure 

I.e 5 bars outlay of 2500 grand for say 125 quid profit 

Maybe worth putting the 2500 grand into a load of memorials which are cheap at the min more potential in those in my humble opinion

If you sell to a dealer, it may be unavoidable to have them logged on the radar
