Thinking of selling my gold noble.....

Recommended Posts

Tough one with these older coins. You could check the BNTA site and try to find a local dealer. Something this specialised might have to go to a dealer (if you want a quick sale). Selling privately or at auction could net you a bit more if you have some time to wait for the right buyer.

This looks to be a really nice coin. I've looked on eBay and it seems to be very similar to an Edward IV noble.  Is this correct?  The prices range between £6,500-£12,000.  At this sort of price, maybe you need to speak to an expert dealer/auctioneer (e.g. Spink in London), or go back to the person you bought it from?

A Tower mint Edward iv noble, it's one of the heavier pieces I've seen; the price ranges seem somewhere between 6k+ and 16k.

Thanks for the suggestions; I've contacted a view to get the feelers out.

Thanks for the reference to the BNTA site for local dealers. Sadly, there aren't any registered dealers in my area, with the nearest some 70+ miles away.

I'm in no rush, just getting the feelers out in prep for the OH saying they want a new kitchen or some other project when we move. If a good offer comes in I'll drop it.

I would suggest auction for this example.  But would need to be Baldwins or similar.

Might be worth approaching Sov Rarieites or Similar.  They certainly but at Auction and it may work out for you.

Cheers' i have contacted Baldwins with a number of coins. The first coin to have a guide price I'm not impressed with. it's really low in comparison to one that sold elsewhere (approx. 25-30%). I've contacted sovr.

You could try the forum sales section, a £15K 10oz coin sold last week so it's not impossible someone may be interested.

Thanks, will do, i've added a Koban and Beast completer to the mix

It's not actually a noble, it's a ryal aka a Rose Noble. They are different to the old Edward III to Henry VI nobles. I believe they were worth 10/- instead of 6/8d.

Thank you for clarifying, yes, it's a Ryal or Rose Noble i believe 10 shillings, the Edward III noble being 6 shillings and 8d.

Maybe contact a dealer and negotiate a commission and let them sell it on their website or at a fair- try Martin at AMR coins- he also co- owns Hosker Haynes auction:
