2022 £5 BU Sovereign

Recommended Posts

Mid year is usually when this annual edition of the Sovereign is released.

I was wondering what the price may be, and for reference I found this coin with similar specifications - 39.9 g of 22 carat gold.

Priced at £2865. 👀

Since this is a Proof coin whereas the Sovereign will be BU, perhaps slightly cheaper, but still a hefty price tag?

Please can I ask what makes you think it could be Monday? The next British monarch is being issued on Monday. Thanks, Chris

Limited edition “250”
Maximum mintage “268”

”hmmmm”

Please can I ask where you found this information? I imagined the issue limit being quite a bit higher. Thanks, Chris

Sorry I was mistaken. I received an advert that seemed to indicate imminent availability, but @westminstrel clarified it's likely not releasing before 1st August. 🙏

The link relates to the Queen's Honours coin, not the Matt Five Sovereign BU Piece.

Do we have any indication what the release price will be?

What was the RM release price for the 2021 £5 BU Sovereign?

I understand the 2022 BU Matt Five Sovereign Piece will £2,635.   Or £2,800 graded NGC PF70 (I think from the RM) - but this doesn't make sense if it is a BU coin (should be MS70)!

Thanks. Do you know what the 2021 or 2020 was released at?

I'm not sure about 2021 but I don't think it was not far off £2,635.  I do know 2019 was £1,940 (which I bought) and now seems cheap compared to the anticipated 2022 release price!
