Completer - where have they all gone

I'm just not getting the hype on the 1oz proof - there is more than enough for everyone who collected the 1oz set to get one. The only reason they sold out was because people were buying multiples to instantly flip. Anyone paying current after-market prices is going to be on a loser when (if) the silver bullion version is released. That will satisfy the demand of most collectors.

For years every single post i have seen on all the various forums have been about how RM proofs are a hiding to nothing. Guaranteed to decrease in value and a poor investment. Now that the RMs quality control is at an all-time low people are going crazy for them.

The hype train is heading for a derailment..

I kind of hinted at it in my post above but I believe the hype for this particular release is driven by the fact no one knew - and seemingly there are only a handful that do still know - that a 2oz bullion silver is coming. There are A LOT of people who collected the 2oz bullion set. With no initial word that there would be a 2oz silver bullion completer I can understand a certain percentage of those people trying to get ahold of the 1oz proof. Once the bullion version is released though I would be very surprised if the 1oz proof trades for over RRP.

I have put a post up for these @AppleZippoandMetronome @Bixley and have realised that the ones listed on the bullion site are listed at £95. Looking on Ebay they are upwards of £250-300? Is this correct and are people cashing in on the lack of availability??

So do you think its worth waiting for a 2oz bullion coin in that case & are the 1oz proofs being rerun at some point?
I want a 10oz version too, but cant stomach the proof prices. I would rather buy a 1oz gold bullion completer!

I quite agree, by the time I had realised that the Royal Mint had released a "Completer" coin, and got back from work to have a look at the web site all the interesting versions of the coin had gone.  May be these coins have been hoovered up for re-sale at a more expensive price.

Unfortunately I've not seen the ones that are available. I don't know how anyone would have it given it hasn't been released yet as a 2oz silver bullion (as far as I know) though if some have gotten out they would be able to sell for a premium to the people who have to be first to have them.

You won't see a rerun of any of the silver proofs. Its possible they might produce those coins in different sizes or in different metals as they've done that sort of thing before but they won't do a second run of 1oz silver proofs or any of the others that have already been released. If you want a 1oz silver proof I would recommend biding your time and waiting until some come up at a price you are willing to pay. I can't personally see any reason why they would maintain the current prices. Prices tend to normalise 1 - 3 months after release from what I've seen of other releases. I can't speak to the larger coins...  5oz, 10oz, etc. You'll see some of those change hands now from those who bought just to flip but most I suspect will be looking to grade and maximise their return. Might be a few months before you get an idea whether those will hold their current prices, fall or rise in value.

Don’t hold me to it but noticed that on the royal mint site that when the coin goes to ‘sold out’ from ‘no longer available’ coins become available again. The 1oz is now ‘sold out’.     This happened last week when they released more of the 1oz, 5oz silver and the 1oz gold.   Just giving the heads up to anyone that might still need one

It definitely was not. Certainly not in the run up to release or until well after the coins had sold out. I kept trying to get on that morning to see what others opinions on this release were but kept getting the 500 error. Its a shame the original thread for it doesn't give the time posts were made as I'd expect you'd find a big gap in there but you can look at that thread and note unlike others where people talk about their place in the queue and what coin they got it goes straight to sold out. The forum was down when the release happened.

I tried to get on the forum and could not on the day of release too

Longer term prices, I monitor coin auctions (not eBay)  the guide prices give you an idea of where the prices are heading, I've picked some coins up 3 months later at auction for not much more than the RRP.   I passed on the music legends and now I'm sick. They are going for crazy money.

To me it looks like we will not see only a 2 and a 10 OZ BU coin, but also a Kilo BU coin.

Time for a bit of idle speculation on the coins referred to in the above gazette announcement! Who can come up with the best guess for the price (including VAT) that the Royal Mint will charge for the bullion silver completer coins: £2 / 31g, £5 / 62g, £10 / 156g, £500 / 1005g and £1000 / 2010g.

I know your referring to the Silver versions but did you notice the £10000 / 10025g Gold version, i'm gonna have to break into my penny jar for that beauty.

Ok, i'm gonna have to break open 2 penny jars and have a look down the back of the sofa too!

I would suspect that the following:

A. Your sofa is massive

B. You must have a lot of 2p Jars.

That’s the 10kg coin.  I’ve got the 5oz gold and had the 1kg in my hands.
the RRP for the the 1kg gold is 63k the 10kg would easily be 650k I wish this coin was 50-80k I’d buy 5 of them!

Who buys a half a million quid coin!
How would you find a buyer to sell it on??

I bet the 5oz was expensive.
I could just about afford a 1 oz LOL. ;)

People were saying that about Bitcoin when it hit $10 a coin who will buy it!  The high end luxury market is insane, coins, watches, art, even whisky.

The 1oz are selling for 120%+ so you have done well with that.  Do your best to keep trading up!

Here in Berlin people could go to a museum and take a 100 Kilo gold maple for free. They just had to fit through a little window. If i had the information for this challenge earlier, i had made a diet. 😇

If i had the money, to spend between half and to a million on a coin, easily i would buy the 10 Kilo. For sure not the baddest decision for an investment

The danger is leaving money in the Bank, wealthy people spread the risk not only in shares/crypto but by having a diverse portfolio in fact anything that can potentially hold value. What we deem as expensive is pocket money to others, you only have to watch documentaries on Las Vegas casinos to realise there are some seriously wealthy people by my standards.

Any intel on release date, Graham? I have the 1 and 5oz and would love the 2oz. Sent the 5oz for grading and keeping the 1oz as is because I am not so impressed with it on the small scale. Loved the 5oz. Hope the 2oz is equally tremendous!

Hope Grumpy Dave is having a good day.
