Not that nice.  I think that's top pop mania taken to silly heights.  I suspect that somebody got carried away a little in the auction.

Gillicks actually show wear quite badly.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

I got confused by the 180% rule mentioned by HMRC:

Investment gold coins (VAT Notice 701/21A) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

But the sovereign gets exemption under 2.1b, I think
