    Fake?

I think you're right. Should say one dollar, not the year.
  2. Unfortunately there has never been a shortage of people willing to exploit their fellow human beings. Probably never will be either. 😔
  3. Nothing to do with your gold, which I hope you get sorted, but just noticed your profile pic, that Irish shamrock round was the very first piece of silver I ever bought. From Bairds in 2015. Takes me back, £15 delivered it was!
  4. Anyone else think this coin would be a stunner if it only had the signature on the reverse, and none of the other gubbins? I would have bought that. As it is I look at this coin and think it'll be yet another crown on the secondary market for 25 quid in a few years. But you never know...
  5. I too really like the .500 coins, 1920/1 to 1946. I am going to do date runs on all of them from half crowns down to the little threepence. Most available at melt or a little over, some will cost a little more, but not much. To date I have most half crowns and about half the florins. I have the 1935 & 37 crowns. But I won't be doing the wreath crowns. I just can't rationalise spending that amount of money on them. That may change I the future, but at the minute if I am going to spend £200 on a single silver coin, it would have to be really, really special. As an investment it will be a loser, but they won't lose money if you buy at the right price and will be a lovely collection. I see this as a little side project alongside the other series I like that I can put together at a reasonable cost and not too much hassle.
  6. After the RMs completer curve ball last time, I would personally wait intil you know the series is compete before shelling out on a lovely box. In the meantime just chuck em in a she box...
  7. It's hard to tell just from pictures, but in my experience silver and base metal coins look and feel different. You could also try the magnet test, or specific gravity. For what is worth, from the images, I think it looks like silver.
  8. Ahhhh.... my all time favourite TSF post. Mr Dead aka Mr Not F@cking About. Cheeky half million in a little case. Maybe some day....
  9. This arrived today from @MillersBullion, just a single 2013 Brit in tip top condition. Another hole in the date run filled. Nearly there.
  10. Well done, that's a bold move. If you can pay the bills doing something you love then you are a lucky man.
  11. That's a fair old list. Have you not got a business to run???😀
  12. Very nice, I have the Orientals and gairsoppa as well. I also have the horse mule so I suppose the Brit would complete the pair. Not looking at going for the privies except the trident. I have to 2020 proof but probably won't go any further with them.
  13. In silver its only 1998-2022, so 25. Excluding the 1997 which was only a proof, and a few extras such as the 2017 trident privy.
  14. Another 2 Brits in the date run courtesy of @PapaLazarou Not many to go now. Kooks next probably, though I am remarkably easily distracted, so we'll see...
  15. If you really want a 50g lump of gold then it's as good as any. Likewise with Sharps Pixley as a dealer. As has already been mentioned, there are some downsides, but I presume you are well aware of these. I would say though, that if you gave every member of this forum 2.5k to spend on gold I don't think many would buy that particular (or indeed any) gold bar. Myself included. But it's your money and the heart wants what the heart wants. How to spend 2.5k isn't a bad problem to have...
  16. Yes, I'd probably have paid maybe 30 quid to do my bit for bricks amprtar business, but I'm not putting his kids through private school! Have you ever seen the shop off George Square on St Vincent St open? Always has the shutters closed when I see it.
  17. The Argyle arcade, yes. You a weegie as well?
  18. Dozens. I can do you 10 for £450 posted is you're interested...
  19. It is the right way up. Its a special edition Quarter (turn) Britannia. That's why its 35 quid. Bargain.
  20. A few weeks ago a jewellers in Glasgow looked me straight in the eye and asked £40 (yes, forty) quid each for manky silver Brits. It cracks me up just thinking about it!!😀
