Half Sovereign
Delving into the beautiful world of fractionals I bought a half sovereign. With the way gold keeps going up its tomorrows one ounce Britannia.

 

Today I received this lovely coin. Ticked all the correct boxes although I can't take great photos like other members unfortunately.  Good hair details are a must.

I don't have a setup sufficient to adequately reflect the loveliness of this coin, so gone down the detail route. It has a satin glisten to it and the difference between this and say a matte BU £5 is quite considerable to my eye, deeper and more gentle, but impossible to show unless in hand. As far as I know, there haven’t been any matte proofs since 1902 outside of couple of 1911, 1937 and 1953 patterns issued for photography purposes (?) super and @Paul, i HODL 😄

I told myself not to buy silver again , so I did . Two horses and a nasty fella with a sword .

Not good enough QC28, not good at all...

 
Lots of frosting missing from the horse's legs and dragon's wing.
Not sure what is behind George's head, but it's really stuck on there!
And for added authenticity, look what's coming out of the horse's rear!

 
Again, lots of damaged/missing frosting on the "GRA - REX" lettering and on the cheek/nose.
All can be seen with the naked eye.

 

What a glorious thing to own! They should have at least given you a nice wooden box for the price paid imo.

But these beauties arrived this morning

A 1915-M, a 1917-C, and a 1918-I. The 1917-C has a very low mintage (about 40k) but can be picked up at quite good prices. Presumably they just sat in the bank as Canada's gold reserve and never saw circulation?
Perhaps I should invest in a good camera next.

Today I received a new king and 3 silver coins from the icon series with a great icon etched into it, Queen Elizabeth the second. 
Even the stamps on the packaging where mostly iconic album covers.

I think it's ok, just mirror finish have some tiny tiny pattern, but only if you look at it from different angles:

Today saw the 2023 Silver proof Britannia 2 coin set, which is very nice, coins are both surprisingly very, very clean...

But today's star arrival was this little message...

Wonder what it is??!! - hopefully it's 22ct, BU, 8g, smooth edged and born on the 6th of May! Exciting stuff.
