From a personal perspective - I would pick the half sov, however, this answer would probably vary from month to month, depending on which I fancied.
I would ask yourself the question of what you want it for - for me, I love the feel of a 1oz silver coin, and to look at a pile of 6 x 1oz, looks nicer than 1 (relatively small) gold coin. However, for a store of value, and, most likely, ease of resale should the need arise, I'd pick the gold. Everyone recognises a sovereign, and a half sov is well within most budgets.

I love these - especially the skull & crossbones (I'm a sucker for piratey-themed silver)! 
They're very clean imprints for open sand casts, did they come out like that, or have you had to clean them up after pouring them? 

thank for the comment, yes they were done in open sand casts hence why i get different back looks not uniform, i did run them through the tumbler for 20mins to give them a bit of a buff up, only got that bit of kit this week so was itching to give it a try!

another update for those interested (if any 😂)
This morning I have been trying to hit the 1 ozt pour size consistently, done a couple of new designs, i like the way they came out, look pretty much the same on the front but all unique on the back and in shape, but all weight 1 ozt, great fun doing it, had lots of remelts, but the more i did the more the weight got right! just thinking up some new designs to play with, here is this morning, "1 ozt Sun Stacker Piece" and "1 ozt Skull Stacker Piece" with the deco ladies now in the 1 ozt weight.
 

With the help of some TSF members, which I will keep anonymous in order to help protect the community when investigating potential future instances, and some admin investigation...

We have today banned a new member who was found to be abusing/manipulating the trading feedback system to create false feedback on trades that never took place on TSF.

The decision to ban was also made as we also believed that this person could have posed a potential trading risk to TSF members. TSF prides itself on having one of, if not the, most honest online marketplaces for trading precious metals. This year alone there have been over 5046 new trade topics started, with many trade topics containing huge lists of precious metals items for sale. My only fear in life is that if I die my wife will sell my coins for what I told her I paid for them! 

So heres my first sand cast silver pour. (To be honest i missed getting the molten silver in the mold the first time round and the result you can see below!)
Theres a few things that i'll change for the next attempt, but overall i'm happy with this as a starting point.

My kids have had a 1oz silver coin at the end of a treasure hunt every Christmas for years (mainly to keep them out of the way while dinner is being prepared).
I usually get them (what I consider to be) a novelty coin - marvel/disney etc. They love it - and I'm safe in the knowledge it'll add to my stack at some point when the "sell" it back to me (for not much more than spot - They've not learnt about premiums yet! 🤣)
