Abyss got a reaction from HonestMoneyGoldSilver in Liquidity: Have 1oz coins had their day?
@Kitalon I am in the exact boat you have describe my stack is exclusively has only 1 oz Gold coins. I had sovereigns and even some 1/4 gold coins but eventually sold them all. As for quickest liquidity option for 1 oz Gold coins all you have do visit Chards/Atkinsons see which dealer offers the best buy back rate. You will find if you were to buy a single coin from a bullion dealer and then upon delivery decided to sell back to the same dealer you would lose on average 3% plus postage cost for (to & from) the dealer provided spot price not changed significantly. Reduce these costs even further purchased from reputable Facebook groups/the forum itself. I have also taken 1 oz Gold coins and exchanged them for several percent over spot in India. Already had safety deposit box to me it made sense to stack 1 oz Gold coins due to the convenience of storage (fit 10 into a single Royal Mint tube), the lower premiums (both buy/sell) and the high liquidity of 1 oz Gold coins.
But in the end have you ever held a 1 oz Gold coin? I remembering holding mine and it was very special moment and I knew if I was to buy Gold this was the form factor that made the most sense to me and still does......

Abyss reacted to Ignorant in Is this acceptable?
Update:
The dealer replied today apologizing for the inconvenience and honoring my request for a replacement. They also included a prepaid return label. Now that’s good service. Now let’s just hope the replacement is in better shape than the coin I’m returning.

This is the image that will forever be remembered when inflation runs out of control........ It lead to a change in Government in Germany to the Nazi party and then to World War 2.

Sneaked in a final purchase of the year from @Rat.
Thanks, 2 x 1/4oz bullion and 2 x 1/4oz proofs. All really good condition bar a teeny tiny copper spot on one of the bullion coins but that'll clean up 🙂

Thanks to @Weirdfish9for this gorgeous QB 10oz Bull 😎
I’ve completed my 1oz gold QB collection and my 2oz silver QB collection a while back. I’ve been slowly picking up the 10oz QB coins to complete. It’s on the back burner but I’m getting there.
I really want to put them all on display on one of those capsule stands sitting side by side all in a row. Would look epic. 👌🏼
Also recently picked up a beautiful 10oz kookaburra 30th anniversary silver coin. Love this design. 10oz coins are super underrated IMO!

A few weeks ago I ordered some bespoke silver bars from the fabulous @SilverAngel.
They arrived today and they are lovely, the thought that they are poured, hallmarked and finished just for me is really great.
I also received the very pretty heart shaped silver pendant again hand poured and hallmarked.
The presentation so nice too.

They don’t. But as I have mentioned a couple of times before, I have a friend who works in art who suggests that there is a correlation between art insurance and theft….for private individuals.

Security by obscurity.
People talk - women talk, children talk, drunk friends talk. If they know, they'll talk.
Nobody's gonna go to great lengths to find what they don't know is there. Low profile, think like a burglar. A fancy car in the driveway attracts (unwanted) attention for example.
A 'decoy' safe may also not be a bad idea. Stuff it with some low value/fakes and some cash. It'll keep them happy if push comes to shove and stop digging further..
